It’s that time, team, shorts season! I mean, as a Queenslander, pretty much every season is shorts season, but you know what I mean. I’ve talked about how to find and wear shorts as a plus-size woman on this blog before. Of course, I have; this blog is a million years old. There have been many, many posts about shorts. Check them out next if you want some tips.
And, I see you out there. But, those of you who can feel your body physically tighten and the little voice in your head start to work itself up, stop! Seriously, stop that. No matter your shape, size or the current situation with your legs, you can and should wear shorts if you want to. No one cares as much about what you’re wearing as you do, so do what you want. And if someone has a problem, tell them to come and talk to me.
So, I thought I’d take a look around and find some shorts and put together a few outfits for you all. There are a couple of casual options, some that you can dress up for summer evenings, and all that in-between shorts goodness. Sound like a plan? Let’s get on with that.
Outfits for Plus-Size Shorts you’ll be wearing this Summer
Sweet Sweet Pastels
Even for someone like me who wears a lot of black, something about the warmer months has me craving colour. It’s pretty hard to resist. So get your colour fix in soft, pastel tones in sweet candy colours. I love to add colour to my shoes, but tops and other accessories are perfect.
And then, when you pair the ice wash, pale blue, denim with these colours, you’re sweet as (that’s for my NZ friends, lol). Lightwash denim is the perfect addition to your wardrobe; it’s just so versatile no matter the time of year. Don’t you think?
Ladies and gentlemen, nostalgia has entered the chat. When it comes to all things seasonal and on-trend, nostalgic items are top of the shopping list for those who identify as Millenials—especially geriatric types (otherwise known as Zennials).
Grab some shorts that all your favourite teen movies queens would’ve been proud of, and wear your childhood with pride. And no, in case you were about to ask, I don’t think you’re ever too old to wear Powerpuff girl socks.
There’s nothing I enjoy more than having people over for some beverages and a BBQ. Seriously, it could be the only socialising I enjoy doing anymore. I know post lockdown it’s all about the picnics, but I’m firmly team backyard BBQ. That said, this outfit would work for either. And for these kinds of events, you want comfortable, easy to wear clothes that look like you made an effort. Enter my dress as a top (discussed at length in this post) over shorts.
And you know me, I would typically default to a sneaker or a slide with this kind of outfit, but I came across these chunky sandals. They not only are in a great neutral tone (elongating for those with similar skin tones), but the chunky heel looks comfortable, stable and adds points for effort. Of course, nothing says I tried more than a heel.
Am I going to work out, or am I just getting coffee? That is the question? My love of activewear as daily clothing started, officially, when I started working for myself full-time. Working from home meant that comfort won across the board—more than style, more than looking the part, all the things. The good news is that these days, there are plenty of others that feel the same way.
I’ve linked to the range at Active Truth which you folks rave about, but I own bike shorts from so many retailers ranging from Best & Less to Hine Collective. Trust me; once you put bike shorts on, they’ll convert you. My favourite part is taking a simple bike short and crop and turning it into an outfit. If you want or need to. Take an oversized tee, some eye-catching sneakers, and you’re good to go. Pull up those socks, lady, and you’ve got style.
Now we’re back in my comfort zone; welcome to monochrome. I love mixing black and white together in an outfit, and adding printed shorts to the look makes it get up and get out the door approved. There will be no tough decisions to make when you go with this look, not to mention how versatile the shoes and tank are when worn separately.
What’s a flippy short, I hear you ask? Well, it’s a soft short, lots of room in the legs for a wide, easy-wearing fit. Perfect for those with larger bums and thighs that need more room. Soft shorts, the summer update to our favourite soft pants, are comfort dressing at its finest, and yet, you still look like you made an effort. Would recommend.

You know what I mean, right? I can picture it now, the European cities, wine on the terrace, your days spent adventuring nut never breaking a sweat. I may not be able to promise you international travel or decedent adventures, but this look will transport you there all on its own. Effortless style, impossibly chic, perfect for those who are looking to holiday at home.
The higher waist and flat fronted waistband of these shorts make them easy to dress up or down. Add the matching jacket (yes, you heard that correctly) and a heeled sandal and you’re all set for your evening. But during the day, paired with stripes and denim, you’ll be exploring in comfort. Now, excuse me, I’m going to grab a wine and pretend I’m on vacation.
There you go, team, my plus-size summer shorts round up. I hope you were able to take away some inspiration for your summer shorts style! At the very least, you are now feeling more confident to put together items in your wardrobe. So, get those legs out into the world; summer is coming up fast. I can’t wait to see what you come up with, so tag me on Insta, I want to see.
The most clicks in the AW2021 trends report were to some beautiful jewel-coloured plus-size jumpers. Heading into the cooler months here, chunky, soft, cosy jumpers are in high demand; I get it. Defined as (yeah, I looked it up, eldest daughter mode engaged) a knitted garment typically with long sleeves, worn over the upper body; jumper. With that in mind, I went looking a little further afield and found some GOLD.
The best part about a jumper is that you can wear them with anything. Literally, anything you like. You can dress them up or down, wear them around the house or out on the town. Even the images (grabbed from the retailers) below show the range of ways you can style them. My personal favourite is jeans and boots or over a dress. I love that a statement colour or a chunky knit pattern can do all the hard work for you.
Years ago, my sister bought the wrong size of a mustard knit jumper and gave it to me. To say that I wore that jumper to death is an understatement. Even now, it’s still in my wardrobe because I won’t part with it. Buy well, and you’ll have your jumper for seasons to come. This sort of look never goes out of style.
Have you been wondering what’s new in Australian Plus-Size Fashion for Autumn/Winter? Phew – that’s a mouthful! I’ve been taking a look around (mostly looking for boots; where did you find boots this year?), and these are the trends I see everywhere. Some have been popping up for a little while, and some are fresh for the AW/2021 season. Now, you know me, and when you see this list, you’ll see there is one, maybe two, that I’ll be getting on board with. But there’s plenty of other goodness for the rest of you, too.
And no, no one here expects you to rush out and purchase anything. We’re much too old for that. But I also know that it’s handy to have a little help from a friend when staying on-trend. Someone to do the legwork, find some great items and make the whole process easier. Since I was doing my research about some of Australia’s best plus-size retailers and brands on what was out there, I thought I’d be that person for you. Let’s dive into what I found, shall we?
Trends, Styles + Tips – Australian Plus-Size Fashion Trends for 2021
Knits as far as your eye can see
Please don’t roll your eyes at me, Meryl! Knits for winter, groundbreaking, right? Well, before you click away, hear me out. This season, I see many statement knits, knit sets, knit dresses, and skirts for a fun take on the normal cozy favourites. It was hard to narrow this section down, so you will find that most retailers will have more than one offering in this category, so make sure you take a look around.
Who doesn’t want to be a picnic, right? This trend is hanging on from Spring/Summer and is seeing a lot of brands bring out options in deeper and darker tones as we move into the cooler seasons. When you’re after a fun gingham or a moody plaid, there is a lot out there at the moment. And I don’t know about you, but I’m still not over The Queens Gambit and all the stunning checks (or the breathtaking cinematography), so why not wear them too? This is such a go-to dress for me, and I think you’ll find something similar that works the same in your wardrobe.
If you’ve been here for longer than a minute, you should have guessed this is the bracket I’ll be dipping the most into for my AW2021. I’m living for the matching tracksuits, basics in stripes and warm tones, as well as those small details that make an item more than your average loungewear piece. Shop these styles if you’ve committed to the “stay at home” aesthetic and won’t give it up. Or, if, like me, you believe sneakers are never going out of style.
If you came past the gingham etc., section, you’d know that sleeves are 100% a thing, so much so that I had to give them their own section. Big sleeves or small, this season, they’re saying something. Another carryover trend, I think this one is just waiting for the chance to get out in the world in a big way. Heck, even I’ve worn some outfits with a sleeve; this checked monochrome dress or this one that shows up in some of my profile images. As someone with broad shoulders, I used to worry about going big with a statement sleeve or shoulder pad. But do you know what? It’s too much fun not to!
We’ve already spoken about matching tracksuits, but what about the one-piece jumpsuit? As simple as a dress with the convenience of pants, that’s always been my favourite part. Plus, they make dressing up so easy. You’ll see that I’m a massive fan of a jumpsuit (I own the Hope & Harvest one in the first row, #2) from posts on the blog, but I can’t seem to make overalls work for me. If you have this secret magic, please let me know your secrets! That’s the major upside of this coming season; there is a cut and fit to suit everyone and their comfort zone.
Heck, I hope you’re feeling well informed about Australian Plus-Size Fashion for Autumn/Winter 2021 team. Because THAT was a mission. You’re lucky you’re cute because I wouldn’t spend this amount of time rounding up images and links for just anyone. Haha. So, tell me, what’s your wardrobe look like this year? Are you adding much to it or going with what you have? Due to an expanding waistline, I’ve had to get some new jeans. But other than that, it was a knit or two for me, maybe a tracksuit or two (that I don’t need), and the search continues for a pair of decent ankle boots.
Janine is on a mission to find the perfect maxi dress for Christmas Day. I mean, aren’t we all. While watching a movie last night, I started having a look around and bookmarking some of my favourites as I came across the. This post is about sharing what I found from some of my favourite online plus-size retailers.
I love a maxi dress for Christmas Day. Simply because they’re easy to wear, can take you from a casual gathering to something more dressed up if it needs to. And, the most important, you can eat and drink freely without feeling like your clothing is cutting you off. I did the same thing for my brother’s wedding last month when I needed something to work in (I was doing their photos) and something that looked dressy enough for a wedding.
And can I just say? Boho ladies, this is the year for you. Oversized shapes and prints, layers of lightweight fabrics and ruffles EVERYWHERE. But if it’s not your style, don’t stress, I found some options that I love that are a little less flouncy. I mean, we all know that my style could hardly be described as Boho. Let’s check them out, shall we?
Friday night the ladies and I popped into the Hear Us Roar pop-up shop. What an amazing night! As a stockist of a massive selection of Australian plus size fashion (size 12 – 26) to be able to go into a pop-up has been a popular strategy for the brand. They’ve done Melbourne, Sydney and now they’ve made their way to our sunny piece of heaven in Brisbane. And let me tell you, team, they kicked things off with a bang.
The ladies and I had a great night!
Desiree (@madamerougemakeup) and Amanda (@iammandyleigh) tried on all the new season stuff (I was happily on camera). They even made a few sneaky purchases. Most notably, Desiree picked up Embody Denim’s Birkin Maxi Dress which was spectacular on her (and the many others that tried it on). SO GORGEOUS. But there was also lots of new season goodness from 17 Sundays (favs) and Hope & Harvest; with Harvest coming from the Gold Coast for the night. Suitcase of new arrivals in hand! Love that. The pop-up has a huge range of swimwear too, lots of casual and dressy outfit options and some basics and denim. All the things!
There’s something about the vibe in Brisbane that I just love. People really showed up for the event and were keen just to have a good time, shop, drink some cocktails and meet some new people. Everyone we met was happy to say hi and chat about what they were looking at or how they’d come to be there. I loved it and was running around like a mad person with a camera. Haha. It’s been a while since I really felt like stepping out like this, but I’m ridiculously glad I did.
It’s nice to be back in the game, you know?
And no, I don’t have any plans to be a full-time style blogger again anytime soon, but I do miss these kinds of chances to hang out with the crew. I had a few ladies asked if I worked at a particular retail store, which I think means they kinda recognised me and I’m not obsolete just yet! Haha. So, watch this space. You never know what could happen. Even if my Instagram Husband has now officially retired, there could be an outfit or two left in this old girl yet.
So, have a flick through some of the pictures on the gallery below. If you’re in Brisbane, make sure you pop down to the new location at Westfield Chermside (lower level, near Tony Bianco and Tigerlily) before December 5th when they shut up shop. Need more info than that? Easy done, you can get ALL the details from the Facebook event page if you need it. I’m hoping to be there again next week, maybe Wednesday at this stage or it might be Tuesday afternoon. But, I’ll keep you posted and let you know on MY Facebook or Instagram. So follow along for all that goodness.
I know, team; try not to die of shock. This is easily the most colour we’ve seen outfit-wise in a LONG TIME. It’s not my fault; I don’t wear much colour. I like it that way. But when I received this dress from a friend (who happens to own the brand in question), I knew it was too special to decline. Thank you, Ms Harvest.
Welcome home, Havana Palm Print Dress.
Last week, the weather continued to be hot, hot, hot. Afternoon drinks with the husband-type person were on the cards, and I wanted to be out the door asap. So, I threw it on with heels, and I was done. That’s the upside of such a statement print. You have an outfit in one piece. You can tell how much time and effort went into such things with my messy top knot. Summer style, right? Easy is where it’s at.
This year I’ve been all about the summer dress: easy styles, light-weight materials and comfortable cuts. We have had some sticky, stinking weather, and the idea of anything more restrictive has sent me screaming from my closet. This is lucky since many of my jeans are snug after the festive season. Haha.
I asked on the Facebook page what YOUR go-to summer item has been this year, and many of you agreed. That and denim shorts, which, let’s face it, the right pair, are like GOLD in my books. So what’s your go-to? I’ve opened images in the comments, so if you take outfit photos, show us what you’ve got!
Wearing Hope & Harvest Havana Palm Print Dress (XL – gifted) and City Chic Heels (from wide fit range – currently sold out)
The Daily Life asked where to buy minimalist clothes for curvy women, I couldn’t have agreed more with the post. This is my style. This simple, pared-back, cool pieces that aren’t kitschy or overtly sexy or girly. Where are these retailers? Who is catering to the women in plus who don’t want to dress up, who want fashionable clothes that are classic and chic?
Where are they?
I loved the article. It summed up how I felt entirely about the problem with being this consumer in the market flooded with girly-girl offerings. And yes, I followed a couple of new Instagram accounts for brands I hadn’t heard of. The thing is that I HAVE found the places I like to shop for these items.
And the good news for us locals is that a large chunk of them are Aussie owned labels. My first response was to tweet that they forgot my favourites 17 Sundays. The 17 Sundays team responded with a tweet that suggested that SOME Aussie selections might have been a good idea for the post. They were SO right.
Here are my suggestions for where to buy minimalist clothing for curvy women.
17 Sundays
It’s no secret that when it comes to this brand I rely heavily on their items to fill my wardrobe. Between the brand relationship and the money I personally spend, my wardrobe is 17 heavy, let’s face it. And it’s because their style overlaps so nicely with my own. You want cool pieces that are fashion in a way that fashion is so under-represented in plus, start here. And their BASIC range, well I live in it for its simplicity and functionality. And because it makes me feel cool. Shop 17 Sundays here.
Embody Denim
It doesn’t get more minimalist than classic denim with the side order of the little black dress. And these are two things that Embody Denim do with their hands tied behind their back. Great cut, excellent quality and effortless, chic cuts are what they are about. Every minimalist needs a GREAT pair of jeans. Plus women, start here. Shop Embody Denim.
Eder + Berk
Formally Meri by Design, Eder + Berk delivers the style of Northern Beaches corporate we all aspire too. Classic pieces and strong cuts. Their recent showing at Curvy Couture blew us all away and I’m sure there’s much more to come from this relaunched brand. Shop Eder + Berk.
Hope & Harvest
A long time favourite brand on the blog, Hope & Harvest deliver everyday pieces you can wear from hanging out in the park to a corporate work environment. Sure every season there’s a go-to selection that you’d hardly call minimalist, but the core of their brand speaks to the girl who just wants great stuff, with a decent cut that she can wear all day long. Shop Hope & Harvest.
Harlow Australia
When Harlow launched I was excited to finally have found a provided that made a simple moto-pant for plus women, pencil skirts and wrap dresses for work. Simple, classic styles that I wore time and time again. They have developed their range and now cover a lot of bases, but the core of simplicity is still there. Now incorporating denim, what more could you want!? Shop Harlow Australia.
You’re welcome, team. As always, I’ve got your back. But I’m not sure this is the last on the topic that you’ll hear from me… This topic is a bit of a bee in my bonnet. All I want is simple, cool, beautifully made clothes that are stylish and classic. Is that so much to ask? I don’t think so.
How to wear a denim vest might be a little extreme, but like most things around here, it was inspired by the interwebs. Arlene mentioned she was wondering today how and when to wear a denim vest, and I said, short version, with everything! It has to be the most versatile piece in a wardrobe. And for a while now I’ve been getting by using my chambray gillet from 17 Sundays as a substitute. That, as you can see, is no longer the case.
Embody Denim sent me their new season vest for editorial consideration after spotting my ponderings about cutting the sleeves off the 17 Sundays jacket (I know, blasphemy) and making it a vest. Things got too far indeed when it was suggested I insert zips to zip the sleeve on and off as the season dictated. Too far folks, too far, you pushed the fashion people over the edge. Checking that I would use and wear the vest, umm heck yes, the team had one in the post shortly after. Jacket saved. Denim vest of my dreams acquired. Excited!
I hate to deviate from our topic further, but I have to stop and say that this vest is an impressive piece of fashion people. The attention to detail, the quality and the cut is a thing of beauty. It’s pricey; some of you are probably going to have a conniption about the price, but I stand here hand on my heart and say it has to be worth every cent. You will hand this baby down to your grandkids, grandkids. It’s that well made. Easy to say when I was given mine, I know, but if you’ve been searching, wanting, needing one for ages. This is the one. Really.
So how do you wear a denim vest?
It is as simple as I said. These babies go with everything. Some of my favourite combinations include over maxi dresses and skirts. Over a cute summer dress and any other time, you want an extra layer of awesome added to your outfit without the weight of a jacket. A denim vest is fresh, a little bit wild and young, think Liv Tyler in Stealing Beauty, and it adds an element of that to an outfit. Start by throwing it on over everything and work out what fits your style. And maybe the good folks who read this blog will hook you up with some of their best ideas for wearing them too. If you ask nicely.

Pretty please tell us how you wear YOUR denim vest?
Earlier this year, the night before Liv’s wedding to be exact, Harvest from the brand Hope & Harvest came to Brisbane. While she was here, Liv organised a Queensland Plus Blogger dinner for her. During the dinner, Harvest mentioned the new collection and how much she thought we’d love it. “I’ll let you know when it’s coming out,” she said before she disappeared into the car of her designated driver. And let us know she did.
Nauticas SS14 launched a week (or two?) ago and on Friday Liv of Wait Until the Sunset, Emma and I donned the clothes Harvest had crammed into a giant post-bag and grabbed some pics. And by some, I mean well over one hundred; most of which are great, funny or awesome. So with that in mind, let’s get started.
We called this our formal outfit. Something you’d wear to dinner or out or dressier, you know. Styled by each of us and photographed with a timer on my tripod. Have I mentioned yet how excited I was to see them come out of the camera? SO GOOD. There’s something very us about each of these outfits. But what I love most is how well they all work together with the string of navy blue connecting them all.
My outfit features the Nauticas dress centrepiece of the collection. Apparently. I called shotgun as soon as I saw it and almost caused a blogger want meltdown. Clearer heads prevailed, and we decided to try on all the things and see what worked on who. With this dress, my height sealed the deal. I’m almost 5’11 so that should give you some idea of how much length is in it.
I’m wearing the large and it fits like a dream. The high neck and long sleeves are so stylish. Though the weight of the material means that I won’t get too much longer out of up here. It’s gorgeous and will be a feature in my wardrobe for years to come. I even have a plan to wear it to an upcoming night race meet now I’ve seen it on.
Liv wears the Birds Wrap Blouse styled loose and, let’s face it, cool over a scalloped boohoo.com skirt that the brand sent me a while ago. Liv says thank you boohoo.com, she loves it. Haha. In true Liv style, the contrasting print shoes make the outfit fun and bright! The Birds Wrap blouse can be worn as a top, a kimono styled jacket or like Liv has here and the delicate print is beautiful.
This green dress Emma picked up second-hand looked made for her. Especially with her gorgeous skin tone and hair colour which all made for a fabulous pop with the Zip Off Denim jacket, zipped off to the crop level. Em is Liv’s bestie and not a blogger, but an all-round good sport playing dress up for us so we could showcase more look at once. Go Em!
This set we called our casual looks and there was a lot of back and forth about these, swapping of items between us until we nailed it. All cool blues and casual style, I love these photos too. There are just so many to choose from, I’ve done my best to narrow them down. Hang in there! Haha.
At first, I had a very different outfit in mind for the casual section. It didn’t even include my sneakers. Shock horror. But a piece by piece it came together and I love the result. I was literally packing up my items to head to the shoot location when I spotted the scarf in Emma’s bag. The pop of orange is my favourite part of the end outfit. Don’t you think?
I’m wearing three items from the collection here, the white zip-off jacket (large), the anchor t-shirt (large) and the Nauticas skirt (large). I loved the jacket since I saw the first photos. I’m not a huge fan of the lining, to be honest, but the shape it gives me across the shoulders is everything.
Liv is wearing her playsuit from Torrid which I tried on and it actually fits me! It’s a size 3 and goes to a size 5 (depending on availability) so long body girls rejoice. Playsuit! Liv has styled the jumpsuit with the zip-off denim jacket (medium) and her signature shoe, jellies. I love this outfit, it’s my favourite of the shoot. It’s so fresh and easy. HOT lady.
Keeping it casual and cool in blues and flats, Emma picked up the slack when we had selected outfit forgetting these pants (coming soon). Adding layers including the collection’s anchor tee and keeping the pop of her red lippie with the look gives it an almost retro vibe. We totally should have made her knot up her shirt. Haha.
This is also the most fun as we paired our jeans with the Anchor tee from the range. I love the idea of a brand tee for a collection, it’s just so cool. But you knew that about me already from my obsession with the afterglow tee. I mean check us out, it’s just waaaaaay too cool. I strongly recommend getting your friends together and taking some photos, it’s a laugh a minute and hello memories!
A big thanks to the team at Hope & Harvest for the items featured in this post. We have this inkling that you are going to love them as much as we do.
Over and out folks, what was your favourite piece from the collection?
This pretty darn impressive skirt has been hanging over the back of my office chair for weeks now. Taunting me. Mr Suger hasn’t been around to grab any photos and I wanted to be sure to do it justice so I’ve been gazing longingly at it, unworn and lonely. It’s time finally came! Paired with simple black to let the subtle pattern and colour of the skirt standout, I was all set for some pics.
And boy oh boy. He nailed it. But let’s not tell him, that dude’s head is the size of a house from all the blog photo compliments he has been getting lately. Lucky he’s cute, even with a giant head. These pics perfectly capture the almost letterpress pattern of the material and the richness of the maroon of the skirt. Perfect.
Now, I bet you’re curious about the skirt itself. Well, it’s looong. Really it is. It’s midi length on me and I’m wearing it just below my natural waistline {about an inch and a half below the belt}. It’s the sort of a pencil skirt that you could wear to work with a blouse just as easily as you could wear it with a bodysuit out on the town. Though the straight line of it gives me one heck of a belly line so that might not be an option for everyone. I’m thinking a leather peplum top would work too.
But you came because you want to win one, right? Well, hop to it. The widget is at the end of the post. Good luck!
The Hope & Harvest Y.O.L.O. Skirt is available now.
Ladies today we continue the new format of Where to Buy Plus-Size Fashion posts with my feature of the newest collection from Australian brand Hope & Harvest. I really don’t think anyone could argue that for fashion forward pieces in the plus-size fashion world the Aussies are at the very front of the pack.
Winter in Queensland is short and sharp. Just yesterday morning it was minus four degrees. Cold, yes. But the days are gorgeous and sunny and the whole thing only really goes for a few months. So I love the idea of winter clothes, big jackets and cosy layers but realisticly I have all I need and more.
BUT there is always room in my wardrobe for more pencil skirts and blouses. For work, of course… And if they happen to be used for play, well lucky me. Haha. The team have sent me the maroon yolo pencil skirt and I look forward to sharing it in an upcoming post. You’ll be able to win one for yourself, actually. Score! So watch this space.
Take a closer look, my friends, and delve into the world of cool for winter plus-size fashion that is Hope & Harvest. I love, love the editorial style of their lookbook and the killer photos that make it up. I think you will too. Let’s get started…

No really, hand me over the ruby-red lippie and the all black ensemble. This autumn/winter I have been seriously in love with black and white and the shades of grey in between. THIS sort of pushed me over the edge. All black. Black on black. A bit of dramatic styling. I want it all and more. I even ordered my first ever Limecrime matte red lipstick. It’s happening folks. Expect for there to be a blackout.
So why the flash of inspiration? What other than the ridiculously gorgeous Angelina Jolie in a killer movie about one of the best characters EVER? Well just all that of course. Hubby and I attended the media screening in Brisbane on Tuesday night {one of the first in the world, oh la dee dah} at the recently renovated and soon to be open for BIG business Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.
In 3D. And I’m normally not a fan of 3D, extreme tendencies for motion sickness induced vomiting have put me off BUT this was magnificent. I’d even recommend the 3D version to people, which I never, ever, ever do. It was visually stunning and the story is unique but not overly unexpected in this modern fairytale world we live in. Some people have said they made Maleficent whimpy and watered down, I disagree. Angelina is all kinds of wonderful and even when she busts out some version of a leather catsuit during I didn’t roll my eyes. Plus Elle Fanning is gorgeous like a little ray of sunshine as Princess Aurora, I was transfixed.
So enough about that, right? You want to know HOW to dress like an evil fairy QUEEN right? Well derr. And thanks to Torrid you can do it pretty easily because they have an official Maleficent RANGE. If you can handle their ridiculous shipping charges {go in with a friend, that’s what we do}.
Yup, I’ll wait here while you check them out. Apparently a lot of the items are marked almost sold out so get in quick if something takes your fancy. And no, excuse me, this is not a sponsored post for Torrid. I found the range via their newsletter, to which I subscribe, and clicked through. Anything with a popped collar the size of the one on the aptly named High-Collar Dress HAD to be in this post, don’t you think?
But what’s THAT, you want mooooore? Well here are some black, black, black basics that will get you in the mood to be bad. Very, very bad. In the very best way. After all, every girl needs a little black on black wardrobe action now and again. So get your eyeliner and red lipstick ready, I’ve got you covered with the very best I could find on the interwebs. You’re welcome.
