Dress, Boots, Tights; Winter Style.

Dress, Boots, Tights; Winter Style.

This post is about Winter Style. How, right? This is me. I’m a summer kid, born and bred. Living for long days at the beach, sand between my toes and the salty ocean air on my skin. I even love things like the sting of too much sun and the crashing relief of an afternoon storm. Such a summer kid. But this year something changed. When it got to March and temperatures were still soaring, I’d had enough. I was ready for the cooler weather, ready for a change. And by May, I got my wish. As usual, patience, teaching me a lesson at every turn. It was time to pull out the winter gear and let’s face it, this…

Weekend shapeless layers

Weekend shapeless layers

I found this button up sheer maxi dress in my wardrobe clean up a while ago. When I first picked it up from Yours Clothing I wore it more like a sleeveless vest, but since it reappeared it’s been all top, all the time. The good news is that they have released it again lately, so it’s for sale on the site now. I know! That never happens with my wardrobe finds. It’s hard to tell in these photos but it’s actually pretty sheer. Layering it over jeans or pencil skirts has become a bit of a thing. I love the shapeless, drape of it which combines perfectly with leaving it unbuttoned revealing a peek of my stomach. So fun.…

Boots, boots, wide fit boots: the 2017 edition

Boots, boots, wide fit boots: the 2017 edition

Are we ready to rumble? Wide fit boots, that are both cool and suitable for the plus size customer? I thought you might be. Of course you are, with winter is around the (okay, maybe a couple of) corners and I don’t know about you, but it’s about that time I start to hunt for boots! Ankle boots, knee-high boots, heck this year, even over the knee boots. I’m ready. Are you ready for boots season? If you’re keen to check out how I wear boots, including some outfit inspiration from the blog, I created a couple of posts for boots week a while ago. There are posts about how I wear ankle boots and the one where I talk…

Making a case for the “Little White Dress”

Making a case for the “Little White Dress”

I know we all LOVE our little black dresses. So easy, so simple and always so cool. But there is one hundred a case to be made for the little white dress. And I don’t even mean just in summer, either. The little white dress is becoming a must have in my wardrobe, and here’s why you should consider adding on to yours. It’s fun!  I know, that’s deep, right? Haha. But seriously, the little white dress is fresh and modern, it’s youthful and fun. If you want to mix things up from your usual, give it a try. For me, every time I slip this swishy, ASOS number on (pictured) it feels like summer. And summer feels like good times,…

Umm, what? The Palm Print Summer Dress

Umm, what? The Palm Print Summer Dress

I know team try not to die of shock. This is easily the most colour we’ve seen outfit wise in a LONG TIME. It’s not my fault, I just don’t wear much colour. I like it that way. But when I received this dress from a friend (who happens to own the brand in question) I knew it was too special to decline. Thank you, Ms Harvest.  Welcome home, Havana Palm Print Dress.  Last week, the weather continued to be hot, hot, hot. Afternoon drinks with the husband-type-person were on the cards and I wanted to be out the door asap. So, I threw it on with some heels and I was done. That’s the upside of such a statement print,…

THE Grid Print dress (hello spring!)

THE Grid Print dress (hello spring!)

There are few items that have been so anticipated, the grid print dress from 17 Sundays is all kinds of a cult item already. We came, we saw it on the runway, we wanted it! Well, I certainly did. I jumped on the chance to own one and after much deliberation, I decided to order a size down from my usual size and get the medium. Ooooo, risky!  I love the slouch, I’m all about the slouch. But this dress I wanted to be short and sweet, I wanted spring chic and I knew long before it arrived that my nude shoes were the perfect match. So for those playing at home, I’m around 178cm and currently wear a 22/24 in…

The Valentina Loves Summer chambray dress!

The Valentina Loves Summer chambray dress!

Despite a (still) full wardrobe, there’s nothing I can do to resist a chambray shirt dress. Literally nothing. There has to be a rehab for that, right? Probably. Someone do some googling for me, would you? Haha. Anyway, when the PR team for new brand Valentina Loves approached me they had my number as soon as I saw this dress. Heart eyes. It’s a pretty unique cut and style as far as sleeveless shirt dresses go. It’s pretty straight through, wide at the hips with POCKETS and dual side splits. The fabric is heavier than a light-weight chambray but not as heavy as a jean denim. If that even makes sense. For me, it’s a little small (I’m wearing the…

My spring races style for 2016

My spring races style for 2016

My sister is celebrating her birthday at the spring races in town again this year. It means that I’m again on the hunt for another races outfit, something that I can wear comfortably in the sun most of the day and still look amazing. The biggest factor is that this race meet has a black and white theme, exciting! Cue visions of elegant women trackside like a scene from My Fair Lady. So. Elegant. I mention that because there’s a chance that my research and my plans for this 2016 spring races season might be a little biased towards the black and white side of things. So I did my best here not to include the dozens of black options out…

Winning in a simple white dress

Winning in a simple white dress

This little white dress, perfect for spring/summer, arrived just before I left for Melbourne and I optimistically put it in my bag. I always seem to bring the unseasonably warm days to Melbourne; maybe, this time, would be the same, and I’d need a warm weather option. It wasn’t. We had cool weather for once. Exciting! But that meant this dress never saw the light of day. It peeked longingly, but it was never to be. So home it came again and the moment finally arrived in the shape of Father’s Day dinner with the family. Easy to wear, only slightly risky given the presence of my adorable niece and nephews, and on a warm enough Sunday afternoon that it…
