This was always going to happen. Once I embraced the retro of fluro, the come back of plaid and the resurgence of the boyfriend jeans it was only a matter of time until someone said bodysuit and I said why not. First up I shimmied into one for Aussie Curves: Runway week. And what a show stopper THAT baby is. Then while visiting Mel’s treasure trove she mention oh so casually that she had a black, sheer, bodysuit I might like…
And HELLO SAILOR, I did like. I liked VERY much.
That baby came home with me and I began plotting and planning ways to wear it every single day. A little fancy, and booby, let’s face it, for the office. I knew I’d either want to dress it up with a killer skirt or dress it down with boyfriend jeans. You saw it on Wednesday with a soft skirt for a wedding. But I wanted something a little more versatile… Something I could wear traipsing about. Something a little more like this…
So what say you? It works right? It works because black always does and the addition of the light and colourful print and my red {fairly light at the moment} hair add interest. So too do the textures of the sheer panelling and the tassel necklace. Oh and let’s not forget the maroon felt hat of awesome I scored from Sportsgirl. It even fits my head. My giant head. What a win.
I was lucky enough to receive all three of Nat from Defined Image’s eBooks in my inbox earlier this week. I have been plotting and planning a give-away associated with an upcoming blog post series. I sat down and I read all three of those babies that night instead of working. As I do. It really got clear for me why some outfits work and some don’t. And also why sometimes the rules need to be thrown out the window and you just go for it. I have thoughts brewing, watch out for them here sometime soon.

Hi! I’m Melissa Walker Horn. Around here, they call me Suger. I’m the Chief Blogger and doer of all the things here at Suger Coat It. Blogging since 1901; I love a casual ootd, taking photos, and writing about things that irk or inspire me. I love wine and cheese, long days at the beach and spending time with my family. I make stuff for the internet over at Chalkboard Digital. You know, living the sweet life.
I had the best 90s bodysuit when I was seventeen! It was a crossover top with enormous shoulder pads. I already have enormous shoulders so it turned my normal hourglass shape into more of a martini glass.
Still working on the hat situation, but I’m getting there…
Good old martini glass, I’ve been there. It’s a slippery slope for me to the martini glass all the time. Haha. Good luck with the hat thing. 😉
Lookin’ goooood Suger!! 🙂 xx
Thank you lovely. x
