My sister is celebrating her birthday at the spring races in town again this year. It means that I’m again on the hunt for another races outfit, something that I can wear comfortably in the sun most of the day and still look amazing. The biggest factor is that this race meet has a black and white theme, exciting! Cue visions of elegant women trackside like a scene from My Fair Lady.
I mention that because there’s a chance that my research and my plans for this 2016 spring races season might be a little biased towards the black and white side of things. So I did my best here not to include the dozens of black options out there at the moment and instead opt for a dash of blush and nude. And despite all my personal preferences, there are some amazing floral options. Inside joke team, florals are a great option, but usually not for me! Haha.
Are you ready to shop spring races options for the plus size woman?
As I mentioned, for me this year (if I wasn’t going to a black and white themed race day) it would be all about the blush and nude tones. I guess you could say that we have the Kardashians to thank for that. With an emphasis on these delicate colours and we are already seeing them at race days in Melbourne, the look can be girly (like outfit #3) or a little bit rock and roll (by pairing the same dress with some spikes or black leather accessories. Got it?
As for the florals, for me this year it’s about that LARGE print. Think that gorgeous jumpsuit from Embody Denim that we saw in the Melbourne Fashion Week Plus runway or outfit #5. I have to admit outfit five, despite it being very not me, has been shortlisted for my outfit next week. Isn’t that print just stunning? Gosh.
And as far as accessories go, my snoop at the Yellowglen Terrace last week tells me that it’s about the headpiece over the hat or fascinator this year. Can’t give up the hat? Well go big, my friends, wide brim slouchy hats similar to the pink one worn by Lady Gaga on her recent single cover are the thing.
Now, are you ready to shop!?
