Three weeks without a blog post, team. Almost four, but who’s counting. How did I let this happen? AGAIN. And I’m not beating myself up about it. I’m just determined to update you more often on what’s going on around here. The Chicken Pesto Pasta Salad was great, but I’m sure you’re wondering how the full-time thing is going. Or if I ever settled into a daily routine that works. Or how I’ve been spending the summer (that I love so much!). You know, life stuff.

Let’s do that, shall we?

As of the start of February I have been back working full-time for myself for FOUR months. I had intentions of doing a detailed three months into full-time recap for the blog and YouTube channel. But well, time flies when you’re having fun and I haven’t. Maybe we’ll aim for a six-month update. The good news is that the reason I haven’t had a chance to do the update is that things have been AWESOME. Super busy and I’m so energised and excited by the work I get to do.

Then yesterday was going to be the day. THE DAY that I planned and started scheduling the rollout for the new @sugersocial branding. Except that, weeelllll, I got a little distracted and cleaned all the things. We now have a sparkling spa and a dishes-less sink, a restocked fridge and clean bins. I mean, you know it’s gone to the next level when you start tackling the bins.

Desperate times. Haha.

This is easily one of the hardest things I find about working from home. Those distractions just sneak up on you and whoops, there goes the whole day. PLEASE tell me I’m not the only one this happens to?! The good news is that a rebrand is coming. That’s the exciting bit. (Eeeekkkk!).

Hmmmm, what else was there..? Have I told you guys yet that Kel got a smoker for Christmas and has been preparing massive slabs of meat on the regular. Fingers crossed that it will mean we start to have people over more often. I feel like BBQ’ing and slow cooking meats should draw a crowd, right? If not that, I make a killer potato salad. Remind me to share the recipe one day.

Oh, and there’s a new member of the family!

No, we didn’t get a dog or happen across a child since my last update. (Phew!). I updated my mirrorless camera! I’ve had a Fujifilm X-E1 for a few years now and we loved it for how easy it was to travel around with. So, I sold it to a good home and picked up the Fujifilm X-T20, which is also part of the X-Series stuff. I kept the 35mm lens, but the rest went including the 55 – 200mm that I NEVER used.

And now, for a minute at least. My camera setup is complete. Probably. I mean, I wouldn’t mind the 28mm Nikkor lens for my Nikon setup. But, well. We need to pace ourselves with these things, right? I’m learning to put money aside for a rainy day with this whole working for myself thing. That’s been a long time coming; let me tell you. It feels like peak adult to not only have money aside to meet my tax commitments but for us too.

Ridiculous, who even am I!?

And I think, probably, that’s the update. January just went flying by and I can’t believe we’re already in the second week of February. When they say the days are long but the years are short, they’re not kidding. And yes, I get that reference is for people with kids, but it totally feels applicable to being in business as well.

Now, I’ll leave you with a couple of pics from the new camera, and I’ll see you all back here again soon.
