Managing your Money: Facing Financial Fears

Managing your Money: Facing Financial Fears

Facing up to the things you fear, financially, can go a long way towards changing your mindset around making money, saving money and spending money. Before I left my job and started back working for myself full-time, I decided to tackle all the weird feelings I had about money. Why? Because I didn't want to find myself down the track and dealing with the same problems I've always dealt with. And that's what I want you to take away from this blog post. After reading this, maybe you'll be able to see something in your own attitude towards money that you've never seen before. Wouldn't that be...

Trendy? Using glass jars in your pantry

Trendy? Using glass jars in your pantry

Pantry problems? Try using glass jars to store your dry goods. Which, in a week dominated by Gen-Z owning Millennials for our very millennial traits, it seems a little risky. I mean, what could be more millennial than talking about using glass jars in your pantry? But here I am.   Why am I using glass jars?   I decided to make the switch to using glass jars when I stocked up on winter soup supplies. There were packages and packages of lentils, soup mixes and dried split peas. They made piles on the shelves and something told me they were taking up way more room than they would if I...

Sunday reflections

Sunday reflections

The smell of pea and ham soup is filling the house as I type this—a slow meal after a busy weekend. Yesterday saw us spending time with a number of my family members on both sides at various gatherings. My cup of love and family is so full right now, and it gives me this dreamy feeling similar to the one you get after laying in the sunshine after a swim. Instead of working-working, I put aside the post I was scheduled to write and decide to write this one. To take a deep breath and enjoy the quiet. Life has been moving quickly lately; at a pace, I can barely keep up with. Once far off...

Movies to motivate and move you

My go-to wind-down tool of choice is movies. There's only one genre I'm not into (gore/horror) and I'll watch anything. Earlier in the week, I thought I'd start pulling together a bit of a list of my favourite movies that move me, in some way. A lot of them leave you feeling uplifted and motivated to do SOMETHING. They've got energy, and I like that. And if you're into that too, I hope you'll find something you like. Or maybe, your favourite movie is here. Let me know in the comments.   A list of movies to leave you feeling moved, inspired, or motivated to be better.   Becoming -...

How-to manage being alone; a lot

How-to manage being alone; a lot

Alone a lot? Yeah, me too. Let's talk about how to manage being alone whether you're working from home or otherwise homebound. This morning, I was speaking with a family friend, and she was booking in a time to see me (for work stuff). When are you next coming into town, she asked? Town, to clarify, is less than a 5-minute drive from my house. Maybe seven, on a busy day. But the reason she asked is that I'm well known for my home base setup. I run my business from home, eat, sleep, babysit, and entertain here (the majority of the time). I order groceries online, and when it comes to buying...

Favourites: May 2020 Edition

As part of the new blog plan, I decided I wanted to share a monthly favourites type posts. Not just for products and things to consume, but for small businesses, I've found content creators I love, and spaces that need a little more light shone on them. It may be personal (this month my brother got engaged, so that's here!) and sometimes it's more significant (like sharing The Great Unlearn as a resource in these times). I hope through this post, you'll find someone or something new to love, get involved in or share. Let's get started with my May 2020 Favourites, shall we?    ...
