I’ve been in conversation lately about health, about wellness, and about diets. You know me, right? I’ve been from one extreme to another when it comes to eating, health and wellness. I’m at a point in my life where I enjoy the great things, the things I should be eating and pretty much all the things in between. Because it matters to me to live life, to enjoy it and I won’t buy into someone else’s expectation about me and my body.
I am well.
My health is good, and my fitness is returning after such a long gym break. But all in all, I have found a groove that has meant for the first time in a long time I am mentally, physically and emotionally well. Thank freaking goodness. And I put it down to a few things;
- Taking some time out for myself
- Exercising regularly
- Eating my greens
- Sleeping every chance I get
And I know for some of you sleep and time out are luxuries you feel that you can’t afford. But trust me, finding the time is worth every single second to your productivity and your wellness! For the Confident You series, I made a little pdf of tips for getting more and better sleep. If you’re interested, you can download it here. Sleep team, get as much of it as you can. It’s a game-changer.
But what about exercise, right? Well, if you’re a plus sized babe, you’re going to want to listen to the SUGER + INK podcast on getting started at the gym because not only is it fun, but it’s got some great tips no matter your fitness level. If I do say so myself. And I do! Ad if you want more information, the show notes for the episode are available now on our website.
So ladies, are you well? Let me know, I worry about you lot, you know that right?
Hi! I’m Melissa Walker Horn. Around here, they call me Suger. I’m the Chief Blogger and doer of all the things here at Suger Coat It. Blogging since 1901; I love a casual ootd, taking photos, and writing about things that irk or inspire me. I love wine and cheese, long days at the beach and spending time with my family. I make stuff for the internet over at Chalkboard Digital. You know, living the sweet life.
I wish I could go to the gym but unfortunately I have a back condition that limits my physical activity. This has not stopped me. I have found an Aqua fitness class that kicks my ass but keeps my back safe and it always makes me feel amazing. I also like to go for little walks with my fiance. Sometimes we go for a walk and enjoy a coffee or an ice cream but balance is key right? Finding an exercise that makes you happy is so important too.
And yes, sleep. Gosh I cannot wait for the weekend when I can sleep as long as I like!
This is so great, we talk about the pool in our podcast because it’s such a great low-impact workout. I’m so happy to hear you’re looking after yourself in the best way possible FOR YOU. That’s the point, right? What works for you! That’s balance for me too. x
I need to download the podcast…when I eventually get a moment to do so haha.
It is really important to look after you in the best way for you I agree. So many people go charging ahead and take on these impossibly demanding workout routines and then give up because it’s too much and blame it on being lazy or busy etc when really they just need to find the right fit for them. x
You can listen in your browser if you like, but YES, DOWNLOAD IT. Haha. I might be biased, but it’s so fun. 😉 And it’s so turn, either that or they injure themselves because it’s all too much. I think it’s important to start where you are.
As far as I know I Am Well. . that can change any minute when you are on the other side of 60. I really need to get my ass off the couch and walk down to the plaza today. But, it rains every afternoon and I cannot afford to get soaked again. Trying to stay well. . .see what I did there? Excuses. . .I am just full of it.
Glad to hear you’re doing what you can and that ultimately, you’re well! That’s all any of us can ask for. Darn that rain. Haha.
