| A tow on the beach? No worries mate. |
Do you see it? When you open your eyes you can see it everywhere. Maybe it’s a small town thing or maybe I’m just looking. Today I went to get the groceries. Yup, that was the earlier post. Having a whine about it. But while I was there I kept seeing these random acts of kindness. Small ones. Little things that might have gone unnoticed had I not been paying attention.
Like the young man who scooped up a large bag of dog food for a woman attempting to wrangle a wayward trolley and two kids. He declined offers to just throw the bag on top of the the trolley {where it had fallen from} and insisted on walking with them to the car with it.
Or the elderly couple who’s trolley was returned by the young girl walking past. A simple, are you finished? I’ve got this, was all she said as she wheeled it away for them. Ultimately saving them the long walk back to the trolley bay {a bug bear of mine, they’re so spread out is it any wonder people just dump their trolleys wherever!}.
And there was the little boy, not much older than a toddler, sitting, mid aisle and sobbing. He was asked by a girl of about 10 if he was ok. Nooooo, he wailed, I lost my Mum. Oh she said well you have to go to the front. She took his hand and I watched as she dragged him to the centre station where his Mother was reporting him missing. Reunited the young girl let go of the boys hand, gave him a quick hug and walked away {I assume to find her own parent/guardian}.
I left Coles, my heart singing. And not because I snagged another cardie, a top and a singlet. But because people are generally good. They are kind, loving and helpful. Sometimes I think it’s easy to forgot, when the supermarket is crowded and people are frazzled and in a rush. But this was a little reminder not to forget to be kind. Lend a hand when you can. And be generally good.
How’s THAT for a incentive to get the groceries. I’ve been smiling ever since.
