I love simple acts of kindness like that. I like in a small town too (even smaller than your neck of the woods) and I do like that people are generally willing to help each other out.

I live in what city people would consider a small town and i see the same kinds of things you're talking about – every day. ( I also see a lot of crap but you get the good with the bad right? )It made me laugh that the last time we were in sydney were shopping at parramatta and a lady in front of us dropped something out of her bag. Mick picked it up, rushed after her and tapped her on the shoulder with an " excuse me? ". She looked at him like he was about to murder her until he said " you dropped this " and then she couldnt smile enough. It was like she'd never witnessed anything like it before!

What a great post and wonderful things you have witnessed. People are pretty damn good, on the most part.

It's so very true. I love days like this when I see those tiny random acts. No matter how big or small they make a day brighter! :)

This made me smile. People are pretty nice aren't they?Just today one of my customers was going through every pocket he had trying to find enough money to pay for his very small amount of food. The lady next in line handed him $2 to make up the difference. Random acts like this just make my day. I often do the same thing myself, if the pensioners are 10 cents or so short I just let them go. I know it will be made up during the day by others who say keep the change when it may be only 5 cents.

I love this post! One of my favorite ever. We should all strive to do things like this all of the time. "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Ghandi

LOVE. THIS. POST.When I was little, I was standing in line at the check out with my mum. There was an older man in front of us and as he was getting his wallet out to pay for his groceries he dropped it. I never even thought about it I just bent down and picked it up and handed it to him. He was so grateful and the way he smiled at me made me feel so good. He was so thankful for such a little girl to do such a thoughtful thing that he asked my mum if he could buy me some lollies. He said I could pick out whatever I wanted. I have never forgotten that lesson and from that day I have always tried to do nice little things for people wherever I can.It really doesn't take much at all to put a smile on someone's face and you never know the impact that small little act of kindness can have on someone. I don't expect anything in return, but I do feel like good things come back to you for it one way or another.

people are generally good melissa. i had a horrible experience leaving work yesterday to find a girl laying out on the street. apparently she jumped out of a moving car. it was crazy. we stayed with her, talking until the police and ambulance arrived. it wasn't long before many people were there to help. a little more extreme than your stories but sharing the idea that people still do care with all that goes on around them. xo.
