Just the Two of Us + Giveaway

 {sponsored by Maggi}

Around here there is just the two of us. I won’t go into the whys and hows and all that but there is. And I don’t care what anyone says, making a meal for two people can still be a pain in the butt. And that’s not every factoring in whether the meal is actually any good for you or not. Cue Maggi Just for Two sachet for a teeny tiny $1.99. What can I say, it’s a fancy step up from my two-minute noodle based vegetable soup. Not that there’s anything wrong with the soup.

These flavour sachet just made it easy to create a simple, tasty {no watered down kiddy flavours here people}, HEALTHY meal for two so you can get on with snuggling on the couch. Or whatever it is that the cool kids are doing on dates these days. As you’ll see below the recipes are simple to follow {three steps, hello} and you’re not going to end up with loads of food you don’t need because you’re working with a package that was made for a family or small country. As is so often the case when it comes to easy meals. It’s all single serve or bulk serves. Tooooo many.

YOU’LL NEED

  • The Moroccan Chicken recipe base, derrr
  • 300g Chicken Breast or Thighs chopped
  • 130g Can tinned Chickpeas, rinsed and dried
  • 400g tin Crushed Tomato
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 cup {20g} Baby Spinach
  • Couscous to serve

DO THIS {THREE EASY STEPS!}

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of olive in a medium frying pan, add chicken and cook for 5 minutes or until browned.
  2. Add tinned tomatoes, MAGGI recipe base and chickpeas, cook for 15 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
  3. Add baby spinach, stir through. Serve with couscous

Also important to note that there are no artificial colours or flavours and NO MSG. So you don’t have to worry if like me, you are prone to fits minor allergic reactions around such things, because there are none. Winning. Just grab the recipe base from the usual recipe base type aisle in your supermarket and you’re done.

And NOW, if you would like to win your very own “Just for Two Hamper” from Maggi {including Just for Two products and some items to make your sexy, errrr special time together that little bit more special}, answer this question;

How would Maggi Just for Two help you have a romantic evening with your loved one?

    Well, I can think of a few ways using Maggis just for two could help. It’s just us two most of the time too…
    1. No wasting food would equal to more money for hubby to by me chocolate which would = happy romantic me :)
    2. Trying different maggi just for two meals instead of facing nights of leftovers would lead to a happy hubby whose good mood could lead to some romance for sure!
    3. And the ugly truth is if there’s enough for 4 people in the pot, well, one would tend to polish it off…then one would tend to have a very full belly…this does not lead to any romance….using just for two would save us from this hazard!
    So yeah….I need to getting hands on some of these meal kits…bring on the romance lol ;)

      Yes! Absolutely. LOVE point 3. We’re SO guilty of this too. Good luck!

  2. That looks delicious. Doing the groceries tonight so I will def be picking up some of the morrocan chicken.
    I think Maggi could help us have a romantic evening, so I could cook this for my husband, eat something delicious and be aware of portion sizes at the same time = hooray for my confidence.
    Confidence + Romance = lucky husband.

    I think for me and my fiance, he wouldn’t be so terrified of cooking if it was this simple! Haha, meaning I could get some rest after work and not be too tired for er, romance lol.

      Woot woo. Ro-mantical! Good luck.

  4. We have a newborn and find it hard to enjoy each others company romantically since our bubba girl has entered our life. Our passion is food but we don’t always get time to cook and enjoy beautiful meals. I believe this will help us reconnect even for a short while. :)

      Congratulations on your new addition! I imagine a fast meal for two would serve all sorts of purposes. Good luck!

  5. With a dinner that looks beautiful and tastes delightful, my husband would feel absolutely special and loved. And since I don’t have to spend hours cooking that delicious dinner, I have time to shave my legs and make myself look desirable! A romantic evening at home can’t get better than this, thanks to Maggi.

        Haha. I was just in replying to comments when yours popped through.

  6. Oooh!! I would put it in my Moroccan tagine (which doesn’t get as much use as I promised Hubby it would at the time of purchase) just so he thinks I’ve slaved for hours making him a romantic meal. I’d even get a bit cliché, get some nice bubbly and light some candles. :-)

      Haha. Darn that tagine! Love it. Good luck.

  7. Ay meal that my husband really enjoyed, that I cooked would be fabulous, but I need Maggi for that I think!!! They are the experts after all!!

      Haha! Yes. Good luck lady. ;)

  9. I really LOVE the sound of the hamper, because food and sexy stuff are two of my passions, but I am not sure how Maggi Just For Two could help me have a romantic evening…UNLESS it can phone up my wonderful mum and ask her ever so nicely to baby-sit our three young daughters! Because failing that, I don’t know what a romantic evening is!!
    With the kids in the house, there is homework to be done, needs to be met, questions to be answered, etc! And by the time they are in bed, I am too tired to even spell “romance!”
    But if I won, I promise that this would be all the incentive I need to have a night in with just hubby!

      Haha. Sounds good! Good luck to you.

  10. It would mean when I cook for hubby and I that I coukd spend some time with him instead of spending ages cooking.

      Absolutely! Good luck.

  11. Your fabulous recommendation and how quick these great looking meals are to prepare would mean we could cook ourselves something yum and fast which is a big plus when we have a 3 year old and 10 month old to feed, bathe and put to bed before we can even consider any sexy, errrr special time together ;-)

      Lots to take care of by the sound of that! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. ;) Good luck.

  12. There will be no guilt at buying take away on the way home from work. Instead, I’ll be proud that I cooked us a quick, healthy dinner for a change. Happy wife = happy life!

      For sure! I know what you mean about the takeout guilts. Good luck!

  13. I cant stand pre done food meal bases/sauces of any description. They usually taste so artificial and I have allergies to preservatives. Well the photos looked great so I gave it a try and I was pleasantly surprised! Will be making this one a keeper in the pantry.. I also added lemon and mint to the cous cous… very tasty!

      Oh I’m glad! I know for us we were surprised to find how much we enjoyed the meals too. It’s always a bit hit and miss with flavour sachets {like you said}. Thanks for coming back and letting me know!
