Sunday Markets

Yesterday was a gorgeous morning, so jumpers at the ready, Hubby and I grabbed our bags and headed out to the Museum Markets. We needed food and a little adventure with my camera. I was excited. It had been a while since I had just taken photos for photo taking sake. Hubby was freshly shaved. I didn’t realise until I knew how much I saw his whole face again. Gosh I missed that face.

We strolled the aisles and aisles of tents packed with books, food, vegetables, soap and tables and tables laden with home-made jams and preserves. Our $60 flew out the window in moment after moment of impulse purchases.Soon we had enough fruit and vegetables to get us through the week. A no sugar added cake, pumpkin muffins and a mustard pickle.

A little more wandering and we stumbled across a table laden with colourful and sweet-smelling soaps. Beautifully presented, they called to me. I asked if I could take a picture, mentioned I had a blog. Me too, she said. And Karen and I met. Karen blogs at Granny’s Garden. Her soaps are sold under the name Soap Cottage. We grabbed a soap kabab and were on our way.

A gorgeous day. A beautiful market. I love my town.

Soap’s by Soap Cottage.

Do you buy from a weekend farmer’s market?

  1. Gotta love a good market I say!

    1. Oh and yes we buy from various Qld Farmers Markets all the time! Hubby takes his business to these 3 soon to be 4 times a week. We shop at the markets first and then hit shops for anything they cannot supply.  Great prices, organic, free range and fresh from the farm – you can’t get better than that! Also for hubby there is a lil bit of bartering of produce that goes on between stall holders and lots of gifted produce to try. They are a friendly, generous lot market stall holders that look after their repeat customers very well.

So wonderful. And on every Sunday, one side of town or the other. You should come up for a drive one weekend, you can come to our after for lunch with all the yummy stuff.

  4. Yes! I live in Wangaratta (country Victoria) and LOVE going to the markets on a Sunday to get my fruit and veg. It’s so great to support the locals.

Absolutely. Hubby and I are trying to decide who’s going this week. Apparently together we spend too much cash. Haha.
