Thunderstorm

I saw the clouds but thought nothing of them. The wind was cool. It was early morning. I wasn’t in my own home, I was standing on a veranda of a house. It overlooked bush land. I smiled to myself  as I looked out the frech doors. I decided to go looking for him. He was here somewhere. As I searched deeper and deeper into the large home I realised the rain was here.
It rained hard. I rushed around locking windows. The rain got heavier and heavier. There were no windows left open but they rattled in their timber frames as the fat drops slammed against them. I got goosebumps on my arm as the wind cooled my damp skin.
I decided to go look for him. And as I did he called to me. I made my way towards his voice and saw him standing right where I had been minutes before. I moved to him and he opened his arms. I lay my head against his chest and follow the direction of his eyes.
I watched him watch the clouds as they moved quickly past the treetops. Swirling mists and dark clouds rushing by. The strong wind moving them past us as quickly as they had arrived. Leaving behind the rain clouds. Shaking the room with the thunder. It’s almost over. I said. And the rain got heavier. Harder.
And then, I woke up.
To a missing husband, rattling glass, pounding thunder and pouring rain. I blinked, confused. Launched myself out of bed and slammed the windows shut. The fat drops had just begun to slam against them. The storm from my dream, was here.

  1. I love it. Very vivid, and now has me wishing for a thunderstorm!!

  2. Its crazy how dreams merge with waking reality sometime. I dont know for sure who the " he " in the dream is but i know what it sounds like and i hope one of those merges into your reality soon too…

  3. Are the dreams predicting the future? Or were you simply half awake and thought the coming storm was a dream?

  4. They say the rain washes away the old and nourishes the new…perhaps your dream is a sign of fresh new things coming to you. Thunderstorms are so primal, so powerful. They stir something deep inside.

  5. We both know my reaction to this seeming I half panicked thinking hubby had gone missing in the storm… I too love storms except for scary cyclones. They can stay away, im still not ready after going through yasi
