There is one thing all people have in common. In my experience. There is one reaction that we all share. And it is not one of the common ones. Like disgust or fear or loooove. But it is still part of the programming, the hard wiring of people. I think. Adult aged people. And probably wider spread than Australians.
It is the look people give you when you tell them that you have no job and don’t plan on getting one. While smiling. Grinning actually. And being zen calm about it. But the look, it’s involuntary. Their eyebrows launch upwards, their eyes open wide and the corners of their mouth turn down. On some people it last just an instant. On some, it feels like it lasts all day. But it’s the same look.
It must be something in the chucking in your job and going it alone thing that freaks people out. Especially as Hubby and I are not eligible for any kind of government assistance. The look is half shock, a quarter sympathetic and a quarter yeah, we’ll see. And I just wish I could stop seeing it. It makes ME nervous. And I’ve got a plan.
Not that I blame the people doing that look. Heck. I have even done it. And I of all people should know better. I AM the no job no plan to get one person!
