Errr, Dad might have been right.

Today was beautiful. Sunny, warm, gorgeous. I spent hours shopping for groceries. I had lunch with my mother. I made a couple of work related calls. And I napped. Attempting to sleep off the growing haze. The fog of withdrawals. Seriously, you can’t tell me that it should feel this bad. I’m pretty sure if I gave up lettuce it wouldn’t feel like this! It’s a bit ridiculous really.
It makes me question everything. All the preservatives and the colouring and all that jazz. I was raised by a farmer poisoned by the chemicals they used back in the day to farm. I was a child when Dad removed all crap from his diet and started mainlining a whole range of supplements. He would tell us. Warn us off the chemicals in aresol cans, foods especially preservatives and just about anything. I was always doubtful, questioning of the validity of his concern for us.
Now I think Dad might have been right. This has to be poisonous. Maybe I should have listened all those years ago. Perhaps he was on to something here. Darn. Of course he was. Who am I kidding. I’m just hoping tomorrow feels better! Until then, I’m off to bed. Again. Gosh. Such a nana.
{I promise to post about something else tomorrow. But as you can imagine, this is a little all consuming at the moment. Sorry about that. Bored yet?}

  1. Dad's are always right!And once a farmer's daughter…always a farmer's daughter.Trust the farmer instincts!!

  2. oh your so good, keep with it, i think your Dad may have had a point! x

  3. Oh wow! How amazing that it's already affecting you so much! Will have to research this more and keep following your journey!

  4. Oh geez you poor bugger. I'm definatly not bored. More intrigued! Maybe we should all be joining you. Hope you feel better sooner rather than later xx

  5. Actually i had heard that cutting out sugar was the hardest " diet ban " type thing to do. I did two weeks without carbs back in February – so no bread or potatoes, no cereal,pasta, rice or anything made with flour ( which included refusing a piece of a friends birthday cake! ) – and though it was tricky to come up with meal substitutes it wasnt actually physically hard. My advice, however, is stick with it!

  6. Do whatever makes you feel good. Mental and physical clarity should never be overrated:)

  7. We did a detox a couple of years ago. Ate only vegetables, fruit, wholegrain wheat and rarely organic meat. It was a shock to the system but we felt so much better afterwards. Then we got lazy and started eating the crap again. We are trying to stop though and I think going back to the markets on the weekend will help as it's such a healthy environment. Cheap too!BTW I'm eating carrots dipped in roasted garlic hommus dip. So much tastier than all that sugar crap.xxx

  8. I vote you focus on Rule #3 and have a party just so you can eat party food :P haha Oh I am Evil!But seriously, I really admire your willpower and determination. I don't know if I could ever do this – you are a better woman than I and think you're doing an amazing job!

  9. that haze you speak of is awful. i wonder if it will ever go. my head felt so much clearer before the food change. hope it comes around for you soon.

  10. Just keep on keeping on…you can do it!

  11. Good on you for doing this!I read last year a quote from the guy who is Elle Mc's personal trainer – he said that sugar is like a fat bomb going off all over you body!! Eep!I don't think people (generally speaking) realise how much rubbish they consume until they actually look at it seriously. I used to be terrible!You will feel great for having done this – promise! Go you :-)

  12. Sugar is addictive! I won't ever give up sugar because I love my coffee too much and black coffee is eugh. But I don't consume much sugar anyway.Fructose is the most evil sugar of them all. And it's most commonly found in our foods in the form of corn syrup. Because corn syrup is so cheap to produce, it's what most manufacturers use instead of sucrose (real sugar). Corn syrup is so bad for us that dieticians and scientists in that field have actually said it's "better" for someone to consume Coke than corn syrup (no this isn't from some silly internet meme – I researched this). So: corn syrup freaks me out!

  13. Black coffee? Haha, I mean sugarless coffee. Black coffee can still be sweet. Idiot. :)
