A Day Out #20in2011 #sugersdayout

The call went out. There was a birthday boy in town. A birthday boy who looooves Aussie World. So a small gathering was planned. Quasi Aunty & Uncle {us!} were invited. After all, Aunty Suger had a list to cross off. The date was set and we were on the way. I took the $10 general pass. I could ride the Ferris Wheel, play mini-golf and use the theatre. Hubby went the $25 pass which gave him FULL access to ALL rides.
And ride ALL rides they did. From the dodgem cars to the brand new Redback. He rode the Ferris Wheel with me and held my hand. Romantical. Bless. I enjoyed wandering in the winter sunshine. Snapping photos. There was literally not a cloud in the sky. LITERALLY. You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
And as those of you who read this blog know, we ordered hot dogs and diet cokes before we left on the hour and a bit journey to lunch and it turned out they were FOOT LONG ONES. Bargain. You can bring your snacks and stuff in though and set up at some of the picnic tables, which really makes it an affordable family day. Or that’s what the cousins with kids tell me anyway.
Would I go back? Hells yes. Did I wish we had more time to stay there… Errr YES! Seriously, there is so much more there than we thought. I feel like a bad local driving past there week after week and never going in. And watch this space, there is a jumbo slide coming… I might even get up the guts to go on it.
Maybe…. Now check out the pics from the gorgeous day and keep reading below. There’s a little surprise for you down there. From the Aussie World folks and from me.

Want to see it all for yourself!? Well the good people at Aussie World heard about my adventure {I totally emailed them and told them about it, obviously} and are offering TWO adult passes to one lucky Suger Coat It reader. SCORE! So if you would like to be in the running to win tell me so in your comment and NEXT Friday {the 12th August at 5pm} I will put all those names into Hubby’s hat and draw one out!
You could be riding the Redback {or the Ferris Wheel} sometime soon. Playing mini golf and soaking up the Queensland sunshine. The best news… After serious discussion with Hubby we decided, if you would like us to join you, we’ll come too! Trust me. We’re fun. But that bit is entirely optional. You don’t HAVE to tell us when you’re going. You can sneak off and not tell us. It won’t hurt our feelings at all! Much. Haha.
How is THAT for awesome!
{This post was not sponsored, nor was our visit. I was going anyway. And writing this post anyway. So I just asked if they would like to offer some passes. And they did. Just so you know. Full disclosure and all!}

  6. That place looks like so much fun. At the moment most of my family from Adelaide are in Queensland and I am not jealous at all. Not a bit. Not even when they are eating sizzler bread and going oooh, look at me, I'm on the Gold Coast!

  7. Wow that sounds like the best fun ever!!! Have driven past it heaps but never actually gone in, but after reading about your antics I think we would love a day at Aussie World – Miss 5, Mr 3 and Mr 9mths would probably enjoy it too!!! ;-) Please put me and my tribe in the draw too. Kim x

  8. Awesome indeed. Awesome indeed.I have NEVER seen a ride quite like that giant round thing. Very cool. Although I would never ride it, I bet my wife would.

  9. I wanna go, please please pleeeeeaaaase can we go? LOL, had to drive past it four times last week and not once was I allowed to go in, though the bf did take a wrong turn once and we did a u-ey in the car-park. That was just teasing :)

  10. Glad you had a great time. We too drive past aussie World twice a year on our way to and from GC. Kids always ask whats there..we went there 20 odd years ago and saw and did everything in half hr..looks like things have clearly changed go by your pics..might be time to visit again.

  11. We drive past there at least twice a year on our way back from Brissy and the Gold Coast and keep saying we will stop in… but never do. I haven't even been to Ettamogah pub since I was about 5 and my parents bought me a door plaque thingymabob with my name on it. I have added it to our to do list of places to visit on our way back from the snow next months.

  12. Ooooo. Good luck everyone! And don't forget you can tell local family & friends too. No need to have a blog or account to log in with. They can use the anonymous comment to leave their name plus email address and be entered.

  13. We stopped and hung about in the carpark of Aussie World one rainy day not too long ago – would love to go!

  14. Ohh if I win it's compulsory that you and Kel come too! Every time we drive past I always say to Jim we should stop in and now I have seen the pics I totally wanna go!!

  15. Do you know, we've driven past it hundreds of times on our way up the coast, and not once even thought about stopping in. It sounds like something that (after our recent victory at the local show) my boys would love! Dodgems! Ferris Wheel! Mini Golf! Woot! Less than half an hour from us.I'm in.

  16. Dude! That would be totally awesome – I want to win and I DEFINATELY want you guys to come with us! FUN! But I would drag you onto all the scary rides ;) Hope that doesn't affect my chances of winning :P

  17. You guys are going to LOVE it. Whoever wins. And whoever ends up going anyway. Maybe we should ALL go. Haha. :D {At least then maybe I could dodge the Redback ride!!}

  18. What an amazing place and a fantastic give away! I am heading over to Queensland in October and i can't wait. This looks like a place well suited to my family and would be a dream to win tickets.

  19. I have been promising my little girl who is 8 that i would take her to Aussie world for her birthday but never got around to it due to financial reasons so to win some tickets would be fantastic.

  20. Wee! I haven't been there since I was little, and back then, it was kind of crappy (sorry, but it's true). Looks like it's improved so much over the last few years, would love to check it out!

  21. Don't forget a name & email address so I can contact you if you win!!

  22. I want to win!!!! So close yet I've never been :(
