The ITALIA Plan

All Images – Lisa & Sam – Renovating Italy

I think Lisa said it best when she said the plan generally ends up out the window in Italy. So perhaps I should have re-worded the title to ‘The vague notion and general idea of what we thing we are going to do when we are Italy and surrounding places’. But since that is a little wordy, I stuck with it. With a disclaimer. This disclaimer. Don’t be upset if there is something on this list that doesn’t happen. Sorry. Next time. Next visit.

The other evening when we sat down with Sam & Lisa we started plotting out a bit of a route. Hubby and I had originally planned to be overseas for 4 – 6 weeks. As the evening went on, the costs became a little more obvious {soooo affordable!} and the fact we were heading right towards Christmas when most building shuts down anyway had us say, stuff it… Let’s stay until after Christmas. Heck, we might even be coming back in the new year.

Sam & Lisa and their children Carina & Luca will collect Hubby & I from the Milan airport. We will be spending the journey in their RV testing out their new business Come Along Tours {Website under construction}. When they are offering their services to others they will follow Sam & Lisa in your camper as they lead the way in their’s. Showing you as much or as little of Italy and surrounding countries as you would like to see.

We have added some awesome spots to our list. One day soon I will outline our planned destinations more specifically. The general idea is that we cover Italy in the first two to three weeks, from there will will travel to some other must see destinations in France, Germany, Switzerland and Spain. Working our way South to avoid the worst of the cold weather. I’ve asked to be somewhere beautiful for Christmas. That is my only stipulation.

We will see the touristy stuff. The stuff you shouldn’t go to Europe and miss. But we will also spend time visiting some places that Sam & Lisa have come to love. Small places. Places of beauty and character and charm. And of the bestest pizza, anywhere, ever. You know, the important stuff.

Sigh. The very idea of it passes through my mind like colourful, blissful dreams. Dreams filled with glorious images like these…

For more information about Come Along Tours you can email Lisa, she’ll get Sammy the message. There will only be limited spaces offered throughout the year. Be patient if you are going to jump in early. It’s early days for the business. The website is still under construction even. But make sure you tell them I sent you. Sam might show me where to get the best gelato ever if you do. You know, to show his appreciation.

Watch out for part two. The places we’ll go breakdown.

  3. Yay! You can have a white Christmas if you want too. We did the UK & Europe at Christmas/New Year in 2005 and had a ball. The cold is okay, it make all the walking around touristty type place so muh easier. Climbing the Arc De Triomphe in June would be hell I would imagine!
