Star F*ckers…

If there is one thing I cannot stand it is a Star F’er. Let’s pause for a moment for me to clarify…
A Star F’er is someone who discards genuine friendships {even just for a moment} to chase the celebrity, or the person having their moment in the sun. Weddings are the worst. All of a sudden everyone is your bestie and wants to read a chapter from the bible or squeeze into a bridesmaid dress carting a wilting bouquet.

Imagine that friend {that we ALL have} who ditches her girls every time there is a new man in her sights. These guys are like that, but with celebrity.
So now you’ve got it right? Well, I see it a lot with Bloggers. I’m sorry. But I do. Love me, praise me, validate meeeeee. The begging minions who RT lovingly no matter how they are treated. Well that’s how it sounds to me. And I don’t mean interacting with people who are at a different point in their lives, someone you admire or celebrate. No way.
I am well known for asking my questions, no matter who the best person to answer them is. I am always grateful to have them answered. Just as I am always a little pissed off to be ignored. I just don’t get the hero worship factor. Especially when it comes to bloggers.
Not that I am not proud of what some awesome Aussie bloggers have achieved. Not that I don’t think there are some rock star bloggers out there who have done amazing things. Who deserve credit for their achievements. But seriously, Blogger’s are the definition of grounded, whole people. But even these grounded whole people must get a little creeped out by the Star F’ers worship and fleeting friendship.
Have you seen it? In real life or with bloggers?
*sorry about that, I usually keep this place a little more PG. And way more PC than that.
But heck. I’m sick, so manners have been filed away under my general annoyance.

  1. I'm pretty fortunate not to have seen it or been part of it.Sucks enough just reading about it and knowing it happens.SSG xxxSydney Shop Girl blog

  2. What!!?? Who ever it was who did this sounds like an idiot.. Same to the rest of them!

  3. I love it. I mean I love this post. I don't love what your talking about. I guess while your in the spotlight there are lots of people who want to be your bestest bud. But I don't know anyone who does it. I don't think so? Is there something your not telling me?

  4. Do I do this?I've been known to RT a lot. Shit. Now I'm paranoid and going to go listen to 'You're So Vain'.'You're so vain, I bet you think this post is about you. YOU'RE SO VAIN (so vain) I BET YOU THINK THIS POST IS ABOUT YOU, DON'T YOU, DON'T YOU!!!"xxx

  5. I know about this but haven't experienced it for myself, not in real life and not in my bloggy world. I don't think it would bother me much or at all. People love me, people leave me….meh.What is RT?

  6. yes. I see it everywhere. sometimes it shits me and other times it amuses me.

  7. I have seen it and experienced it both in the real world and the bloggy world. It totally sucks and I really hate that people can be so flighty and not genuine. It's not nice to use someone for you own gain no matter what the platform or the circumstances! I don't get it either Melissa!

  8. It's a pattern that begins in high school unfortunatly some people never grow out of it. Scuze me, I'm off to shone John Travoltas shoes…

  9. I think it's a bit of a girl thing.Don't worry I will always think you rock!

  10. I've definitely seen a through "rock star wannabe bloggers" who seem to crave numbers and popularity. I'm with you. The thing that attracted me so much to pursue this blogging thing has been the normality and groundedness of people who blog. And I love those that stay true to that. Just like you lady friend ;) x

  12. lol you just have to spend a day on twitter to see that this is alive and well and THRIVING!!i retweet, if it's something i think others should read or a great saying, yup i'll retweet it happily. blogs i read frequently, if they post a link in twitter i'll usually retweet that too.but as for the gazing adoringly up into a popular bloggers eyes – i don't get it. some of the bigger bloggers in australia – well lets just say i don't get why they are as big as they are, meh might just be me, who knows.~x~p.s. hope you're feeling better you unemployed bum #jealous

  13. oopsie! my bad LOL… I do RT heaps incase someone misses it i shall stop it right away OK :-P xxxI have seen and heard bloggers do what yr post says Thats not me i am plain me like me or not who cares:-) xxx

  14. I thought you WERE one of the rock'n'roll bloggers. :D Everyone loves you. I don't know if I do it, or if I've seen it. I think that blogging, here and everywhere tends to be pretty cyclic. Today's rock stars will move on and aside for tomorrows.

  15. Ooooh, you have me intrigued now, as to what on earth promoted this post! xxx

  16. Oh, RT means Re Tweet! Thats why I had no idea what this was about, it's twitterspeak! Of which I know nothing.. I think every one has witnessed someone crawling up another's arse simply because the Arse is popular, but that doesn't make it acceptable. Personally, I am basking in the extra attention my first giveaway has garnered – 2 whole entrys. Jealoussssssss? xxxx

  17. I don't tweet so I can't comment on blogs much.I've seen it IRL. As a nurse I can't stand it when a "VIP" aka celeb gets admitted and some management types and health professionals get all Star F'ery over them. Yes they need a bit of extra privacy and strict confidentiality so they media and public is not all over them, but shit, they don't deserve any more special treatment than Mrs Oldie in room 202 does. We're supposed to treat everyone the same, and this includes the crims. It's the Star slobbering-over that I can't stand. And sometimes the Stars make me hate them even more. Just try uttering "don't you know who I am?" and I'll have a big fat tube up one of those orifices so fast….. well maybe not, but I do love to reply with an unflattering and eyelid fluttering innocent 'no, but it says here on your chart you are xyz, is that right? Do you know where you are? What day it is?' F'ing stars. Egos the size of Elephants, some of them.Touched a nerve much?

  18. I know what u mean and being that people know ke more through twitter than through my blog I have only just started with the whole RT thing. I will RT if it means something to me or it's something I think should be put out there. If it's mistaken as anything else and it gets taken out of context imcant help mbut then again most of the friends I have made through twitter and I think of u as one of them. I hope would call ke on my bullshit and tell memto pull my head in

  19. It's funny how people react when there is a spotlight around. Tge otherside of it is also those who love the drama and hover just waiting for it to happen. I spent a large part of a year feeling like people were doing that to me. Then when the expected drama disappears so do they!

  20. I'm guilty of RT but not for 'famous shit' just giveaways…lol I wouldn't know what to do in Twitter if it wasn't for the fact that they have the retweet choice when I go to a giveaway link from a blog (usually) to gain myself an extra chance…if it wasn't for giveaways, I wouldn't be a twit myself! Hugs NaomiP.S. found you via the wonderful Tina Gray dot me on FB….not Twitter!

  21. haha you read my mind.. xx
