{A sneak peek into my inner brain workings}

Rainbow Beach Sand Blow

I short while ago I was asked what my ultimate indulgence fantasy would be*. I pondered and wandered through a day or two thinking about it. I took a survey. I polled it. I even asked Hubby what he thought. {Gasp!} And finally decided.
My indulgent fantasy would be to have the life of my dreams now. Indulgent is getting everything I ever wanted. Indulgent is saying stuff it, dreams definitely come true.
Now close your eyes for a minute and let me take you on a journey to my ultimate fantasy life. Hang on. Scratch that. Maybe squint a little while you read or get someone with a sexy voice to read it aloud for you. Really settle into that fantasy vibe. Here we go. Picture this.
My eyes flutter open and focus on the dazzling white ceiling. A soft breeze blows across my face and it smells of salt and sea breezes. I roll over and take in the stunning cliff top ocean views through the large casement doors. The green grass of my lawn drops off to white beaches that give way to the coloured sands of Rainbow Beach. Sighing, I think to myself, life is good.
After throwing on something effortlessly elegant from the startling large array of designer clothes I own, I pad on bare feet towards the kitchen. The coffee machine has preheated and I steam some milk. The porcelain tiles are cool beneath my feet but the day shimmers with heat already. It is early, but not too early.
With hot coffee, cool fresh fruit salad and a large tumbler of ice cold water I perch myself at the kitchen bench to have breakfast. It is a rare treat, a quiet morning to sleep in and a peaceful breakfast. Hubby has taken the kids out for the morning surfing and sand castle building. They will be back by lunch. But until then, the day is my own.
I surf the net and read some blogs. I log into my emails to find offers for wonderful writing opportunities and fun adventures. My little blogging empire is doing just fine. The spin off coffee house/book shops are doing well according to today’s updates and all stores are reporting enormous growth. There is even a request from the new owner of the original store in my home town for me to pop in and say hello sometime soon. Perhaps sign a few copies of my new book.
Before long my family comes bounding back through the door, salty water dripping from their curly locks. They are a blur of brightly coloured swimmers and soaking wet towels. My heart opens. I never thought I would know such love for another human being, let alone for one big one and three little ones. Hubby saunters over, a little flushed from the morning’s exertion and sun, and plants a kiss lovingly on my mouth. The eldest, witty as his Aunty Amanda Claire, shouts get a room. And the younger ones laugh, boisterously.
Over lunch Hubby and I discuss the plans for upcoming vacations and work related travel. My mind spins at how lucky we are to be able to visit all the places we ever hoped to see and more. We spend a month of winter in Italy enjoying the sunshine in our restored terrace house just down the road from our Renovating Italy friends. The kids speak fluent Italian. We are pretty good too. Our lunch is a tribute to all things Italian. Fresh antipasto. Quality produce and fresh creamy cheeses.
The phones rings and it is my brother, confirming that the family dinner is still on that night. Of course, I say. Silly billy. If you don’t want to drive, stay here. As I hang up I cannot help but be happy that we found our ultimate beach house a mere 40 minutes from the rest of my family. And it’s the same one I saw in the Queensland Homes magazine back when Hubby and I were first married. Funny how these things work out. I love being near my family and friends that have always known me. And who get me.
And later the sun sets. My family all around me, good food in my tummy and good wine at hand, I smile. As I watch my kids run around with their cousins. I am glad they can all be close. I smile at my Dad, this is his dream fulfilled too. I’m glad that they will know the love and acceptance of family. Life couldn’t be better if I had made it up myself…
So what is my ultimate indulgence..? Everything I ever wanted**.

  1. i got 24000 high score, i would spend $1000 on paddle pop sticks to build a small village for the oompa loompasScott scott.krystal@internode.on.net

  2. I'd use $1000 to go towards a new camera lens.I got 42,000 :)

  3. I got 4,500! :) I would spend $1000 selfishly all to myself- a major shopping extravaganza.

  4. I got 90,000!!I would use the $1,000 to pay the bills so I can spend my days inventing a robot that does all my washing. By all I mean sort, wash, hang out, bring in, fold and put away EVERY load.Want one?

  5. My score was 63,000. I think for $1000 I would take my daughter on a holiday to Moreton Island. She wants to be a marine biologist one day!

  6. I scored 2,870,420 but still couldn't beat the leaders :(I would Indulge in some 'me' shopping which rarely ever happens when you are a single mum with 5 children. Maybe I could get my hair done for the first time in years, or buy myself some nice clothes. Maybe I won't look as daggy when I drop the kids at school and they don't want anyone to see me with them. I could also get the kids something nice for Christmas so I get the joy of seeing smiles on Christmas morning and they can enjoy telling their friends what they got from Santa instead of feeling ashamed.
