I think I need a break. A week off. Or two. The silly season has hit here hard. People go a bit mad leading up to Christmas. I think it is the pressure, the expense, the commitment. I know even for some of you Christmas is crazy time. Right… Lucy? {heehee}
But I refuse to play. Christmas for us has always been low stress and high bonding time. If people misbehave or carry on at Christmas they are boo’ed by the family and told to pull their head in. Gifts are purchased for those we WANT to buy for. If someone ever EXPECTED a gift from me, I think that would be the day they were off the list. I do laid back Christmas. And I love that. I protect it viciously.
Here at work there is no protecting against it. Here at work it has already started, the whole using Christmas as an excuse not to pay rent thing. The I had to buy my children gifts/get a new tree/visit my mum in far North Queensland and the flights had to be booed thing. Seriously, I think your kids are going to remember being homeless more than if they received two or four gifts this festive season. I’m just saying. Craziness. It has begun.
Short version of this mini rant… Christmas doesn’t mean your obligations and responsibilities end. and if it ain’t fun, don’t do it. Go to the beach instead.
