Moment of Realisation/Polly Dolly

So today I joined Curves. I have spent the past two weeks tossing up Gym, Curves or Weight Watchers. I have spent the last week in serious pain with a lower back strain. All in all my time had come. When my cousins joined Curves this week she gave my name and number as someone who may be interested. Turns out their timing was perfect.
So I was weighed and measured and BMI’ed and Body Fat tested. And I realised that I am only 5kg from the largest I have ever been. and that stung. You see, a little under two years ago I was 20 kg lighter. I was making progress. I was about 30 kg from my goal weight but on my way. Now I am back to the beginning.  Major slip up. Major fuck up really. {You regulars around here will know I don’t swear a lot here… So that about sums it up}
And then tonight I was doing the Polly Dolly and as I pieced the outfit together I couldn’t help thinking how much fun it is. I remembered how much I used to relish the opportunity to shop and piece together and outfit. Something funky and modern like my little LACE collection above. Something I didn’t feel like a total Nanna about. I enjoyed the expression of it and while I still enjoy fashion and getting dressed up I don’t fit in my own skin at the moment. And it shows.
For now I have dreams and ambitions and plans. One day, I’ll be there. And you should expect a pic. Below is how Polly Dolly works… Most people don’t have a big D & M post, FYI. Today though, it is what occured to me to write in the empty space below my image.
Every Thursday I’ll post a new Polly Dolly Theme Challenge, then you toddle off and get creative. You can credit the items if you want and add a bit of an explanation of why you chose the pieces or you can just share your clipboard… it’s up to you. When you’re done maxing out your imaginary credit cards, simply add your link below using your blogs name as the “title” and a direct link to the specific blog post. Note: As Polyvore only publishes to Twitter or Facebook, I’ve found the easiest way is to click on your set, and go to ‘view details’. Then go to ’embed on your blog’ and copy the html (you can chose to have just your picture, or the item info as well). Paste it into your post in the html section. Easy!

  1. Oh Melissa! I know how you feel. I've put on about 10kg, which seems not so much to some people. But I just can't wear anything cute and funky anymore. I feel like a total frump all the time.Good luck with Curves!!Oh, and that outfit, too cute!I almost chose those earrings for mine. x

  2. Congrats to you on joining curves xBTW I adore that sweater!

  3. I joined Weight Watchers about 10 years ago Melissa and lost about 25kgs. I've put about 5kgs on since then, but it really worked. I don't know if you've tried it before – but with Curves and WW you'll be good to go in no time.
