If you’ve got it… Flaunt it.

I think one of the best parts of having a personal blog, with no real topic {or point, let’s face it} is that when the mood strikes you, you can write about whatever. And this week, as I rejoin the Fat to Fit’ers, I want to talk about attitude. Sort of. Not the sassy smart ass’ie teenage version. That IT factor that makes you, you. The confidence and quality that is essentially you.
There was a status update from one of my favourite bloggers saying;

I wore a bright and colourful outfit to the shops. Two grown women sniggered at me and when I turned to confront them they turned away and burst out laughing.

Now this blogger has attitude. Style. Confidence. And is this the price that she has to pay for expressing herself? First of all, boo hiss. Stinkers. That sort of behavior is what continues to tell young girls that it is ok to do that to each other. To divide. To humiliate. And when mother’s offer this as a role model for their girls {in particular} it makes me want to scream. I’ve seen it first hand and refuse to be party to such petty crap anymore.
I guess that is the part that has me thinking about this. Is knowing who you are and expressing it always going to be a struggle? Or will there be a time when individual is celebrated. When attitude and flaunting what you’ve got are what we strive for. More than money, fame, and the perfect supermodel body. If what I do best is laugh loudly, love hard and be creative then it is my responsibility to share that with this world.
It is your job to be you. Loud and proud. That is all. Because the other stuff. The garbage. It pissing me off. And it is about time it stopped. And it has to start with us.

  1. You're so right – that sort of behaviour is what shows children that it's OK to bully others. Boo!

  2. Great Post! Women are their own worst enemies sometimes, they worry about what to wear (or whatever) because of what people think and then they judge others themselves. Where's the love?

  3. I agree with what you said. As the mother of two boys and a daughter, i see it all the time.P.S. I think I joined your blog hop inappropriately. As I started looking all of the ones listed they are all about weight loss and fitness – my blog is not. So if you want to remove it I understand :)

  4. With that confidence, size 26 or size 6, it doesn't matter. Charisma is as charisma feels & does…xx

  5. Sheila – The blog hop is hosted by Diminishing Lucy. And the post should be able lifestyle, fitness, health or healthy recipe or something. But like me, your whole blog doesn't have to be about weight loss.

  6. I understand what you are saying totally as I have a daughter and want to be a positive role model for her by being healthy and happy with myself….
