Something happens when you start to blog…

You find yourself taking random photos. You cook dinner and are particularly proud of the throw together meal you created, grab the camera. Driving along a road with a great view, grab the camera. Hubby does something that normally you’d give him the silent treatment for, start imaging the story. Have an upcoming event? Use your blog as a place to vent your freak out.

It is strange phenomena this blogging thing. I was thinking about it tonight. About what an awesome chronicle of my life that it has created. I have everything here. My highs and lows. Photos, stories, recollections, dream and disappointments. I think that this is what I used a diary for.
It is such an awesome thing to think that years from now my kids could read this and know for sure how badly they were wanted. Or I could look back over these posts reliving my past. I love the idea of having something that will outlive and outlast me. this blog is my legacy, of sorts. Amazing. {Though I will probably have to export it to somewhere more permanent}
And yes. I really did photograph my throw together dinner. Tomato, asparagus, bacon, lemon juice, garlic over some wholemeal pasta. Pretty proud of it. Considering there was virtually nothing in our house. Go me. And yes, there are more photos.

What did you find a surprising benefit or side effect of blogging?

  1. This made me smile – you are just spot on with the endless photos thing :-)We were hiking in the mountains this Summer, and stopped to eat a tiny hillside cafe. The couple at the table opposite us took a photo of their bratwurst and bread before they ate it, and whereas once upon a time I would have thought 'how sad' instead I just thought 'I bet they Blog'!

  2. ha I do it all the time but just never blog about it! surprising benefit of blogging I found is at how much better I feel after posting about something I feel good or bad about and I like re-reading a week later and think how much better I feel.

  3. my camera is FILLED with pictures of stuff i think will make an awesome blog post. i also have a little notepad on my nightstand that i will scribble on in the middle of the night when i am drifting in and out of sleep and thinking about BLOGGING…seriously…i totally get that picture of dinner.

  4. Blogging has made me take records of things I never would have in the past, thus preserving parts of my life I wouldn't normally think to!

  5. hehe, I can so relate to this post. I take my a camera every where, my husband thinks I have gone crazy!
