Dear Temptation,

Lounging Around? Don’t mind if I do.
I feel the pull and I attempt to resist. Urgent matters sit waiting while I while away the hours. I adore lounging with a good book, tapping away on my laptop, snoozing on the back patio and cooking {and eating} up a storm. All great fun. All wonders of this lifetime. Productive to my goals? Not at all.
I try to resist you. I fight against you some times, upset and angry at your hold over me. I rally my spirits and try again only to have you thwart that effort too. I know what you are doing. You are trying to keep me here. Locked away. Trapped. And don’t think that I don’t see past the wonders on offer to that reality.
Because I do.
I hear how you get inside of my head and whittle away at the resolve I so resolutely put in place such a short time again. All of a sudden deal breakers such as skipping my walk or having a mid week drink seem like the best idea under the sun. And it’s because of you. My witty, manipulative foe.
Can you give me a break. A short spell while I dig my heels in. Gain some ground. You can come back later. That would be ok. I guess. If you must. But for now. Please leave, go. I don’t want you around any more.

Thanks, M.

Hey you, blog hoppers? Got any tips..?
Strategies to avoid the great lure of temptation.

  1. I actually think a little bit of lounging around is good for the soul and just what we need!! LOL

  2. I wish I had some advice, but unfortunately I've got the same problem. LOL!

  3. I am bad with temptation. I generally fail miserably. I would suggest becoming a Nun.

  4. I've been reading and napping all day, so I'm no help to you.

  5. Just do the exerise thing FIRST THING.Then you CAN lounge around and do whatever else without guilt.OR, recall the feeling that you get (smug smuggedy smug smug) when you have done the exercise. (In comparison to the crap feeling of giving into temptation….)xx

  6. I agree with Lucy – do the exercise first. I went for a run at 6.30am today. And now this afternoon while my bub sleeps and I have done my other jobs, I won't feel guilty while I sit and read blogs. Oh, and the fact I felt great all morning after doing it was a bonus! :-)
