And it’s all down hill from here…

Come Friday I will be hitting the road and heading out to… The National Music Muster. It’s on. You know, like Donkey Kong.
The packing and planning frenzy has hit fever pitch. There are clothes and camping equipment spilling out of every room on to every surface throughout out house. All this chaos and the massive to do list have been squeezed a little too tightly between the final week at work. So tightly in fact, it if were pants, you would need to undo the top button at least… Sigh.
I’m excited though. and so should you be. I plan to have wireless internet and my camera. And for once, in a very long time, I will have all the time in the world to blog. And won’t that be a nice change. I just hope i can get a reasonable deal on a USB internet thingy. Otherwise the plan goes to poo.
We are menu planning, packing, cooking, chopping and preparing. Isn’t that just the worst part about camping. Or even holidays in general. The packing. Ugh. Horrid. And I am the worst of the late packers. Not THE worst but definitely up there. My boss, probably THE worst, packed the morning her flight was leaving for a 4 week overseas trip to the USA. Did you get that. Like 3 hours before she was due to leave for the airport. Gosh. I would have had a heart attack.
And you know the funniest part of this whole saga is that I don’t like camping and I swore (before last year) that I would never, ever go back to the Muster after a million years volunteering as a teenager. There is nothing like being hit on all day by drunk, smelly guys while you attempt to secure the fire roads to turn you off an event. And don’t get me started on the manners of a crowd of 40,000 filing into a main stage venue where people have staked out areas the size of a small family home since lunchtime and need to be told that they can’t ‘save’ it for their entire family due to space constraints.
But I let this go when a community group I volunteer for was offered the easiest post in Muster history. Aaaaand, we had a really good time. So, we are lining up again. For 10 days of sleepless nights, 24/7 gate watch, hanging out with family and friends, dust, dirt and debris. You know. Good times. And the hottie’s that visit and stay at the emergency services camp next door don’t hurt either.
Watch this space!
