Hello You…

{this is the look i am going for – from we heart it}
I am building a website at the moment. A few actually. And I have been promised that not all the proceeds with be required for household stuff and boring blah, blah items. I have been given a free pass to shop. And as stereotypical as it sounds I love to shop.
And I desperately want some new clothes. I never shop. Ever. Last time I bought anything clothes and shoes wise was for my Uncle’s party, in MAY. Argh. I am the only one who just doesn’t have the time or money to shop these days? I started making myself a list. A shopping list. I even plan to clean out my cupboards to the basics that I wear and toss the rest.
And it got me thinking about my style. My look. You know that stuff. {Sorry Cheeseboy, it’s another boy unfriendly post! I promise to be unisex again soon} And I relised how specific I am with my style to some degree and not at all in others. Especially since I am planning to build a comprehensive basics wardrobe. So here it is…
I love heels and ballet flats. I hate strapless anything. I love cardigans and cute dresses. I hate and refuse to wear the colours orange, gold and brown. I love pencil skirts and vests. I love stripes. I hate belts. I love mixing items from anywhere together. I hate head to toe label. I love blue, black and red, yellow, pink and white – In fact almost everything in my entire wardrobe fits into these colours. I love scarves, wraps and pashminas and I hate wearing them. I love dark eye makeup. I hate powdery makeups. I love sheer lip tints and bronzer.
See. Specific.
My biggest problem is finding that stuff that I want to wear in shops. I often find myself mindlessly clicking through millions of listings on eBay or haphazardly altering store bought items with my sub par sewing skills or simply quitting and not buying anything. It drives me bonkers. Absolutely mad. I seriously would love to be able to sew. Like properly. With the end result being wearable and all that. Sigh.
What is your biggest clothing/shopping frustration? And for goodness sake, don’t say the mirrors, everyone hates the mirrors. We will count that as a given. Come to think of it, can you sew? would you run me up a couple of cute shift dresses for work? Ha!

  1. I'm hearin' ya. I hate tops cut so low they show what you had for breakfast, pants and skirts that make your pot belly look double its' real size, PADDED BRAS!, and loud prints.I love classic cuts, but being big-chested and short-waisted, I have terrible trouble finding things that fit.I too need to learn to sew. Or get rich and find me a tailor.

  2. Oh you've got me – I loathe shopping for clothes – I only buy them accidentally. Sounds like we have very similar taste – and yet who knows where to buy such items? I'm dropping a boot-load full of items off at the salvos this afternoon, hopefully a few lovely things will leap off the shelf and into my arms. Perhaps a 50s prom dress for my ball?

  3. It's okay. You are allowed to be gender specific every now and again.

  4. I love the idea of shopping for clothes… I hate it once I actually start to look for something to buy. I blame numerous things, number one being my (.)(.)'s, that just won't fit into a top that 'should fit me', and number two, I have a style that I believe is mine in my head and can never seem to find the things that go with it in shops. So instead of clothes shopping bring those happy happy joy joy feelings they should bring, I go home in a huff and take it out on the world for the rest of the day.

  5. I am a clothes tart these days. One of my friends runs a style consultancy and I drag her along as my personal shopper…..she did my colours for me too, very Briget Jones' mother, hahhaha!

  6. Uurrghh…orange *shiver

  7. Yep I love all this stuff too, but living in a small country town I don't think the other school mums would appreciate my trouble at the school gate. But damn it, I wear it for me anyway!!
