This weekend with you was amazing. For months I have watched you struggle. Felt like I could offer you something. And didn’t know how to get through to you. And what a strange place to find myself in as the child. And you trusted me. And took what I offered without any consideration for the momentary role reversal. Thank you for your courage and your commitment to having your life be great. And by extension ours.
You have always been my role model. I know some children will complain that their mother’s worked. But I was always proud of your drive and your way with people. The way you cared for your employee’s was just like you cared for us, with generosity, care and your eyes firmly focused on what was possible for us.
To see that sparkle return to you as you let who you are wash over you. The joy you bring. The laughter. The lightness. Finally this weekend you saw yourself as we have always known you. And what a relief.
For who you have always been for me. For the love you never failed to show. For the power of the demonstration of womanhood you embodied. For the lessons you taught with love. And the trust you always placed in me. For the comfort of always knowing who I am in this world and my place in it. I will always honor you. My Mother. Source of my life.
Thank you. I love you.
