You changed, You use’ta be COOL.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the point of blogging. Because lately, you see, I have jumped on the heartless, world domination form of blogging that is oh so enticing and addictive. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But you know it, the gather a million followers, have comments bursting from the seams, have wildly successful give aways and soon become a blog celebrity somewhere in the arena of Chantelle of Fat Mum Slim.
And I forgot to be interesting. Well to post anything of real interest I think. Anything I real importance to me and thus revealing myself to you all. I used to do that. I read back over some old posts and there was heart in there. Honesty. My life. And some fun. I got worried about making sure I did the things I thought would make me popular. Ha! Rookie mistake. Very High School really. Mum always said…
Try too hard and people don’t like you. Just be yourself.
So. Just wanted to let you know. I got it. Lesson learned. Expect more me here. After all it’s a personal blog. About me. And then if the stats and the comments and the stuff drops, at least I’ll still have a blog that I enjoy posting on.
Oh and a ps. By referencing the lovely Chantelle I do not mean to imply that her blog is heartless because it’s such a huge success. In fact it is the oppisite. In my opinion. I think that her success came from heart. A beautiful account of life, love and family. And this note was essential to making sure that was clear.

  1. I think you're still cool!

  2. Absolutely…. however, what do you do when you ARE being yourself and THAT is boring! lol.. aka my blog!I love Chantelle at Fat Mum Slim too…

  3. Well said…. though I've never thought you were boring. Did I know you when you were cool? lol! For me blogging is about posting what I want to post without having to worry about boring my non internet friends, ha, ha…. I put up pics and comments that interest me & give people the choice if they want to listen (look) or not. Keep being honest and your blog will always have heart. :)

  4. I must have my head up my own bum, 'cos I find you VERY cool. I love ALL your posts. xx

  5. Totally agree with Elecat. I say what I want to, and if my whopping seven followers don't like it, too bad for them! :D At least I like what I write. The sad truth is that I have hoards of half written books here and there because I love to write, but only for my own selfish pleasures. Someday maybe I will care enough to actually publish something. Hang in there, you are still very cool!

  6. i am glad you wrote that. i feel the same. felt like a bit of a loner with few comments and fewer followers but have realised that many people with a mass following are doing competitions, giveaways, twitter and facebook marketing etc. seems like a lot of work. personally, that's not why i started blogging as an outlet so, although it's tempting, i've held off. in the end, i want to write what i want to write and i want to follow blogs i am actually interested in reading….still, it'd be nice to have hundreds of faces in that little sidebar :)

  7. Yeah, I started to try and keep up (for about a week) but I can't be arsed and TBH it took all the fun out of blogging for me.I don't give a crap about giveaways and comps, I join blogs cos I'm interested in someones life or perspective.

  8. And here I was thinking that post didn't make any sense..! Lol

  9. Totally get it. Been there. Didn't go as far as a giveaway. But I am coming out the other side now ;)

  10. Interesting.I find alot of blogs are 'busting to impress' rather than a true representation of what they are and love to do/talk about.I particularly find the blogs that try and amass tons of followers by other means than their content a real turn off, don't you?Great post!

  11. You're one of my blogger elite! I like the real Melissa!
