And that reminds me, I bet the new Alice in Wonderland movie is out by now. I’ve been off in la la land and probably totally missed all the hype. Awww. I hate that. I love hype. And Johnny Depp. Did I mention that I love Johnny Depp. Never before has a man been so sexy with the name of a cutie three year old boy. But this post is not about that. I will however probably have one. Later. But not now. This is about my lovely, lovely weekend. And a little bit about throwing up. Again.
This weekend I went away with my mother. And my aunt and two cousins as well. But this weekend was the first in a while where it was just Mum and I. Hanging out. Chatting. Laughing, there was plenty of laughing. And mostly because we had virtually no phone reception. You see we both have pretty up close and personal relationships with our phones. Real estate will do that to a person. And it drives us batty most of the time. It was nice to get away. Leave the phone in the room and be with each other.
And it rained and rained outside. And we didn’t care. There was nothing for us to do. Nothing to rush off to. No one waiting on us or expecting anything. It was absolute bliss. Our cabin had two rooms and my cousins and aunt shared one and Mum and I shared the other.
It was like Mummy/Daughter sleep over time.
And I just wanted to say, to the whole world, that I loved it. Every single minute. Except the dulcet tones of vomiting and gagging in the morning. Haha. Sorry Kylie, couldn’t resist a little jibe. Jealousy’s a curse you know. Baahaahaha. Good luck with the remainder of the pregnancy lovely. I can’t wait to meet her.
And about this rain. Are you getting it? It’s madness here. The river levels dropped on Friday just in time for us to leave on our weekend. But according to reliable local sources it poured down the entire day Saturday and wouldn’t you know it, the rivers are straight back up. It’s an awe inspiring sight. The body of water that it takes to fill the beautiful Mary River. The sheer volume of it. The way it spreads out over paddocks, swamps trees and envelopes fence lines. I have some dodgy phone pics that just don’t do it justice. I’ll try harder tomorrow to get you some good pics.
I watched the floods on the news tonight and wondered is Queensland almost entirely under water at the moment? And where the hell did all this water come from? In Gympie it has been over 11 years since our last large scale flood (both bridges and highway cut) and here we are looking at two mini’s in one week. This weather is a big weirdo. My Mum said it’s all happened before and it’ll happen many times over in my lifetime. I told her I’d wait and see. It doesn’t pay to let Mum know she is right straight away. I like to make her suffer for a while. Do you do that? Heehee. Evil, evil child. Yes, I mean you.
So, is it raining where you are? And what do you do to kill the time? The picture, in case you are wondering, is of green bottles. As in, I have almost resorted to singing and counting down 100’s of green bottles to pass the time.
It’s that wet and rainy here! Gosh.
