This outfit practically put itself together. I have Friday’s off and I’d been to the gym {go me}, I’d come home washed and dried my hair and was trying to get out the door on time for a meeting followed by another meeting, followed by a third meeting after that. And because these meetings are for my social media consulting business I don’t need to dress I certain way, I can just be me.
Win.
So given the wind was blowing a gale and I knew that I want to be warm but not too hot {what’s with people turning on the heat as soon as it gets remotely cold, I ask you? I love a bit of a chill!}. I dragged on my comfy long sleeve Autograph dress from a million years ago {I found a similar one on ASOS that I’ve linked to below}, a belt and my boots. It was all very black and gold. Simple and normally depending on whether I was at risk of running late or not I’d run out the door and be happy with that.
But I had time to burn. So I thought I’d add a little pop of colour through a jacket or necklace. I almost left the house in this floral bomber borrowed from Emma {her new blog is live, check it OUT baby} again. Almost. Then I tried on and discarded this black jacket I’m in love with. But then a little package caught the corner of my eye. It had arrived the night before and I hadn’t had a chance to open it. I did and the decision was made. The Lisa Kerr Designs kimono was perfect. So, Instagram pics were taken I ran out the door to my appointment feeling rather fabulous. Such a win.
This outfit works, in my opinion, because while the dress isn’t bodycon it flows and shapes beautifully, the ankle boots make it cool {and warm too. HA} and the belt cinches it in at the middle adding a bit of interest. Again I’m not wearing a necklace because when my hair is down I feel like there’s more than enough going on there. But later for an afternoon catch up I added a black chunky chain necklace to take it to a nighttime look. Easy. You can manage this one right? It’s all about balance and layers. Simple couplings and allowing the gorgeous fabric to talk for itself.
