Holding on to Spring {She Wore What}

As I sit here and type this my feet are tucked under my bum to keep them warm. The evening is cold and just like that Summer is really gone, Spring a distant memory. Now I’m not sure about you but this Queensland girl lives for the sunshine, the warmth and the lifestyle that comes with that. Living outdoors, drinks stacked with ice cubes and the beach, of course. So even when it starts to turn cold, I like to cling to the last moments through my clothes.

And what says Spring/Summer more than a floral peplum dress, I ask you?

I say nothing.

I gave a nod to winter, it’s a dark floral after all. But it’s more of the sort of nod you give to your horrid but harmless ex-boyfriend in the street. A little cold, sort of reserved. Like a quiet eff off Winter, don’t I look fabulous without you. Haha. It’s not that bad promise. I love boots and jumpers and scarves as much as the next girl. I just prefer warmer weather. Spring in particular.

I’m talking about the weather because I’m just not sure about this dress on me at the moment. I’m not sure I like it at all. Then I look again and I’m like, yeah, keep it. Then naaaah, sell it. I think it needs a belt maybe? And to be taken in around the chest area… I’m not sure what it is exactly but I’m still undecided. So you decide. Don’t tell me though, in case I chose to do the opposite.

Hi Melissa,
I actually really love it! The skirt is slim lined which works great with the peplum, and sits at the perfect level for a summer dress, just above the knee (& you have the pins for it) The dark floral print looks great and would allow you to wear if for a fancy night out with a dark belt and killer heels or for day wear with some lovely sandals. Thinking it would even work with a little structured crop jacket or cardi over for the cooler autumn days. I am from Victoria, but I believe down here that there are still some warm days on our horizon, maybe so in QLD too?

Personally I would say its a keeper – it looks lovely, but its your call :-)

  Oh I hope there is too. Mamma warm weather. Haha. Great advice and something ill keep in mind when wearing it again. I’m going to keep it for now, see how I go.

I love it too. I say keep it. But I think it needs a belt. I know you said don’t tell you but you rock belts, so go the belt.

  I think so too. Without my hands on my hips I lose my entire waist in the peplum, flare of it all. Belt and a second chance it is.

  They are actually. They have a wide heel and a platform under the front of the sole. I’ve worn them to work and run around in them without any issue.

I love this on you. When it came up in my FB feed I scrolled past and thought it was an image from an online store and the. Realised it was you. I think it would be nice with black tights and a cropped cardigan for winter. Keep it!

  Thank you Faith. I going to take the scroll past as a compliment for sure. Hubby and I are working really hard to try and produce quality images for the blog so I’m happy to hear that. Great advice for making it winter ready, it’ll hang around for a while I think. ;)
