Did I fall off the Sugar Free wagon?

Short version. No.
I AM more settled into my new lifestyle. Moving into the maintenance phase over Christmas. My term, not theirs. Maintenance phase, that is. I didn’t make up Christmas. I find it really easy to stick below the guideline figure given in the I Quit eBook over there on the sidebar {if buy it, I make $6}. It’s almost double the original cold turkey guideline and it feels like Christmas.
I’m bringing out the summer food by the super large tray full here. I think the thing that I may miss most in coming month’s is not going free for all with fruits over summer. Oh goodness, how I love mango, plums, cherries, nectarines…. Mmmm, yum. I still plan to partake, but staying below 2 serves a day. Not like other years. Oh my, can you say guts!?
It’s funny to think how much we were encouraged to eat growing up. As much fruit as we liked, even right before bed. My Dad, the pusher of all things fruit, still believes this was one of his biggest mistakes; The high levels of fruit juice {real juice, not punch or concentrate or fruit ‘drink’, mind you} and fruit. Which lead my siblings and I to develop a natural sweet tooth {for lack of a better work}. Honey, fruits of all descriptions especially pineapples, grown all around us and eaten warm from the patch or icy from the freezer. It was natural, we felt like were were being healthy.
Except, you know, that whole Melissa spent her entire life without ever knowing she was full/satisfied/had enough thing. Except that juices especially or pretty much empty calories. Except that it was necessary to counteract all that sweet with salt. Loads of salt. I wonder now what life would have looked like if our fruit was rationed. If juices were banned. I wonder if my lifestyle, my health, would have been different. It’s an interesting question to ponder. For me, anyhow.
So there you go, that’s the update. Sugar Free Suger continues in the updated holiday version.
‘Tis the season after all.
