I started Christmas shopping. A sad tale.

I need a lie down…
When I awoke this morning I had a list of things to do and barely enough time to do them in. And then I got called into work. So I had even less time. A frequent, and let’s face it, talented shopper I assumed I could till do my errands and knock a few items off my list. No problems.
Well. Correction. Turns out there were a few problems.
First of all when I went to the bank to withdraw money from the deliberately not available on eftpos or online banking account. I eventually found a park in the pain in the butt that is the one way ‘main street’ in our town. Ran into the bank hoping to sling my request across the room to the teller and whiz right out. Nope. The line was 15 people deep.
So I left.
It wasn’t until I was driving to the first of three errands that I realised that since I had left the bank sans cash, I had no money. At all. No money to complete said errand. Grrrr. Sigh. I ran through my list and soon realised that all items on my list required at least some money and I’d made a huge mistake skipping {huffing} out of the bank.
So back I went.
On the way I thought I’d check in with work, see if they wanted me to come in at 11am or 1pm. Dialling the number at the lights soon I was catching away to the office manager and driving. Along the highway that cuts our town in two, mind you. Spotting a police car ahead of me I dropped the phone to my lap and finished the conversation. QUICKLY.
Too late. Flashing lights from behind told me I was busted {yes, there was a cop car ahead and behind me. Geez, what ARE the odds!}. Might I add that I do not now or ever endorse talking on the phone and driving. I do it too often. Because I’m stupid and I don’t think. Heck, at least I don’t text and drive any more. $300 ticket in hand I was AGAIN on my way to the bank.
Short version, this time the bank line was shorter, I robbed my account and was on my way. After the errands I went to the shops. I had just over an hour to spare and actual cash in my pocket. Nice. I had gifts to buy for 6 nieces and nephews, My Social Media Secret Santa and both sets of our parents. So I started to hit all the usual Christmas gift type speciality stores before making my way into Big W.
An hour later I walked out with the mother load of bags. I was still wondering what exactly I would get for my Social Media Secret Santa. Don’t fret, YOU {if you read this} I have a few good ideas of what I want to buy. I just haven’t found THE ONE yet. But I’d bought plenty. I had dresses, t-shirts, shoes, the last three Potter DVD’s, a new SodaStream canister for our cocktail party tomorrow and a puzzle.
Too bad everything but the puzzle was for me.

  1. Don't you hate when you get busted doing something that bazillions other people are doing all the time, yet they never seem to get caught? And i dont advocate doing the rong thing either, but we've all done it at least once, right?

  2. I have done 99% of our Christmas shopping online this year. Started back in October. I have two HUGE 130lt tubs in the garage FULL of presents. Now to start wrapping them. PS: Who is your Social Media Secret Santa? Go on… you can tell me. I won't tell anyone! LOL

  3. You went christmas shopping and only bought ONE actual give away gift?Tsk Tsk *wags finger*Shame on you. And what's this about driving while on the phone? Oh Dear! You need to invest in one of those car speaker phone thingys.

  4. ha ha ha i *love* that you went shopping, came out with all that stuff and yet only bought one thing that wasn't for you – that is fabulous, though now you still have to go buy that other stuff!!sucks about the fine but from someone who has almost been cleared up a couple of times while on the bike by people who have been too busy yakking on their phones – $300 is not a big enough deterrent imo.I agree with River, get a handsfree bluetooth thing for your car – my new car has one built in and once i work out HOW to actually use it, i'm going to!i hope your next xmas shopping trip goes a lot more smoothly gorgeous!~x~

  5. Why are you not internet shopping from the comfort of your couch? Sounds like you need a lie down ;)xx
