Ooooo Pretties.

Even though we have been in our house now for four years, before that, Hubby and I moved. A lot. Usually almost annually, some years more often. And there was one thing that happened every time we moved. We would pack. I would have five boxes for the kitchen. Two for the living room and one per person of the bedroom and bathroom stuff. And up to TEN boxes for the office…

Why such a ridiculous number? Well apparently I have an addiction. I love a glossy magazine. And I have them all. I had wedding ones, home design ones, property and investment ones, fashion ones, cooking ones, house and garden ones, girly ones, more womanly ones. Oh and I had junky ones. Mmmmm. Gossip mags.

They would fill well over four boxes. FOUR VERY HEAVY BOXES.

I couldn’t get rid of them. I loved them. I liked to possess them. It was, I guess, the next closest thing to possessing the many, varied, beautiful things in them. Sometimes I would buy them and not get around to reading them. A quick flick through and I was happy.

So over the years I have had many a magazine subscription. Working full time I found it convenient to have them delivered to my door every month. And let’s face it, since I was buying them anyway, it was cheaper too. See what I did there, Hubby calls it the win/win! HA. My favourite is Madison {I still remember picking up the first ever issue to read on an overseas flight. It was twice the thickness of other magazines and half the price! WIN}.
And given my, ummm, penchant for all things magazine, I have often given subscriptions as gifts. My Dad had so many magazines coming at one stage he asked me to STOP! Haha. Or to renew existing ones if I must. The bonus is, for those desperately seeking a Mother’s Day gift is that there are some great discounts at the moment due AND {this is the really exciting bit for me, as you know!!}

YOU CAN WIN A TRIP OF A LIFETIME {yes, a lifetime!!} TO ITALY. Did you hear that? ITALY. Viva Italia. And we all know how desperately I want to take THAT trip. Right, Renovating Italy crew!? I have got to get myself in the running for that. Ah hunny, more subscriptions to come!

So there you go. Go on. Tell me that this post hasn’t solved all the world’s problems in one go.

A magazine subscription is the perfect Mother’s Day gift! Subscribe now to Madison Magazine or to one of the fashion magazines and you could win a trip of a lifetime to Italy.

  1. I'm a mad mag addict myself. I can't throw away any of my house porn, although I'm okay to chuck the 'women's interest' titles. I have SO many mags that at some point I am going to have to cull the house porn too. Either that or (yes!) move to a bigger house! x

  2. Guv asked me the other day…"you continue to buy all those cooking magazines every month and yet we continue to eat the same old things, whats that all about?"i really have no idea what point he was trying to make!~x~

  3. Wedding porn is my vice at the moment. I weened myself off the everything else years ago, only to treat myself to a Who, Ok or something equally as junky when catching a plane!!

  4. I had a similar addiction, but only to "house" magazines, like Home Beautiful; House and Garden; Vogue Living; Country Living; stuff like that. And anything that had house plans in it. I was always looking for that perfect floorplan. After the last move though, I went through each magazine, kept the pictures I wanted and tossed the magazine. Took several months to go through them all. Now I borrow them from the library instead.

  5. Oh yes. I love my magazines, only a choice few, but they are good none the less. Empire MUST be purchased every month, as does Super Food Ideas, and Delicious. Donna Hay when I see a pretty cover.That reminds me, I haven't bought Empire! -walks off-

  6. I recycle all of our old magazines. Actually The Hubs is the only one who gets them now. My big collecting vice is books. They're heavy, cumbersome and I have wayyy too many. I can't throw any away. And shoes.

  7. Well look at us all! Addicts to the core. Haha. Gotta love a glossy though. I don't care how many boxes I have to lug around. BUT the clipping and saving makes sense too… Hmmm.
