Oh my. Well, you know how they say that best laid plans always go to poo? Or is that just me? Well, in some ways, the Blog Meet Up on Saturday night was like that. In others, very much not! It started as we approached the event. I couldn’t figure out what to do for the goodie bag. After a quick fb page survey, it was clear it HAD to be sugar related… So a plan was hatched.
And then my life happened.
So come Saturday morning I had the lolly bags and the idea. that was it. I designed a tag. I went and purchased the lollies. I decided to give 2x lolly bracelet’s, a lolly necklace and a few large candy text hearts. Job done. I went back home. And my printer was out of ink. After I rushed into work and printed them off I realised they were a bit small. I decided to back them with another piece of card. All worked together and ended up well. they looked a little like this…
I had a nap and I was on the way. Excellent. Left in plenty of time. I had the GPS programmed with the address. I was off. I made such good time I stopped for a coffee. A really big one. Soon i reached Brisbane and the nitty gritty part of the navigation begins. And my GPS let’s me down big time. I do circle after circle. Tweeting for assistance. I even stop and ask for directions. And then I make it, run inside {after looking for a park for over 20 minutes}…
And it’s the WRONG Freestyle Tout. I’m at the Fortitude Valley venue. I should be at the West End one. Ass. I head back to my car and attempt to enter the new address into the GPS. It cannot locate the street. Ass. Soon after I received a call from
Danielle, responding to my tweets, I get firm directions and soon I am there.
It is 8pm {at least} and I am late, late, late. So I hustle my bum from where I park my car into the venue. I ignore the burst of nervousness and throw myself into it. I gravitate first to a few familiar faces. I put my bags down and grab a drink. Realising soon after I have to bolt to the loo. It was a rather LARGE coffee. I run into Danielle at the toilets and am put at ease by her and the presence of the beautiful Violet. They let me cut the line and go first. Win!
I mingled. And was soon in the photo booth set up with the wonderful
Danimezza. Her and I have become blog type buddies and it was great to see this transfer into real life babbling and conversation as the night wore on. Don’t you love when that happens. I had some great chats. Met some more people for the first time. And fell in love with blogging all over again.
For a full list of the bloggers in attendance check out the event page listed below. Seriously. If you have never been to a meet up, get your backside to one. I love it. The instant bond. The understanding. I loud belly laughs. Oh, wait… that just could be me. The evening went way too quickly. I had planned to order dessert and got caught up and basically forgot. So yup. I went to Freestyle Tout and forgot dessert. I think that’s sacrilegious or something…
And soon, it was time to hand out the goodie bags {after many not so covert attempts to check out what was inside of them!} and people were heading home. Not me. Not for a while anyway. I was staying on Danielle’s couch so I loitered until the end to follow the carpool back to her place.
But, before we left we sniffed out a bottle shop with our mad skills and Danimezza and I stalked off in search of champagne to celebrate the success of the evening. After stopping for fuel, tolls and other random driving incidents, it was not long after 1am and we had arrived and headed in doors. And after all that, we skipped the champagne sighting the too tired and kinda over it’ness. So we checked out the photos from the evening and talked blogs, bloggers and other stuff. Attempting not to laugh too loudly and wake the entire house.
Have you ever tried to laugh quietly, it kinda sounds like that cartoon dog Mutley. And it hurts your throat.
It was after 3am before I snuggled into Danielle’s comfy couch and dropped off to sleep. Only to be rudely awoken, not by children or city related noise as one might expect, but my my alarm, sounding at 6.45am saying it was time to get up and leave in time to meet my Mum at a Copic workshop, in Gympie, at 9am.
What a weekend, huh! Loved it.

I will now be attending {at least} the upcoming Brisbane and Gold Coast events. And I’m in early talks with Danielle about a Sunshine Coast one. Maybe my friends at the Ginger Factory want to get on board!? So you know, stay up to date.
