Can I please retire now?

I’ve got some catching up to do! @ Home that is.

I know that other property managers will agree with me here. There are some weeks that you just wish it was time to retire. The time when nothing seems to go right, people disagree over every single cent and simple tasks turn into long drawn out processes. Or you end up sitting in your car out the front of a house for four hours waiting for the police to come and remove a trespasser/former tenant from a property.

I’d hate to sound ungrateful. I am happy to have the opportunity to work and with my great team and for decent money. The challenge of what I do is addictive in a lot of ways. The daily twists and turns. The required problem solving skills. The interaction with people. ALL kinds of people. And yet, still… 

As we head closer to Monday morning, I can feel it, the desire to retire.

    Oh gosh, you are taking me back. I wasted six hours once sitting outside a property, first waiting for the police, and then watching a tenant load her possessions, kids and dog into a removal van so I could have the keys back.Sometimes, property management can be the worst job in the world.

    hmm you're doing a great job in talking me out of ever wanting to be a property manager – something i've considered becoming for awhile now!while i know it has it's downsides – is it a profession that you'd recommend?~x~p.s. i think, from everything you've ever written about your job, that you pretty much rock at it

    Ahh fond property manager memories. Haha.Rach & MM, ah yes, I pretty much rock at most things! Ha. And Rach, I can only recommend getting a traineeship or similar to see how you like it before you pay out for the certificate. It takes a certain personality type, I find.
