What’s your favourite part?

I am sitting in my living room. On my lunch break {See, how lucky am I to live so close to my work}. And thinking about things to write about. But one single thought keeps rolling around and around in my head. I am wondering about bloggers and blogging and this whole world here.
I can’t help but think that a short year and a bit ago I had no real idea what blogging was. I’d just opened a facebook account really. Late adopter obviously. Seriously though. It makes me wonder what else I am missing out on that I don’t even know about!
I look around at my life and wonderful experiences that have been bought into it by blogging. The people. The support. The joy I get from writing. The freebies. The challenges. The meet ups! All of it. It feels like such a large part of my life. I wonder how I expressed myself without it.
I really get amazed when I think about some other bloggers who have made careers out of it. Like Danielle from danimezza.com who is in Melbourne at the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, hanging about dressing celebs for City Chic runways shows.
Or Chantelle from fat mum slim is winging her way across the ocean to a Disney hosted blogger conference. And I have read them both express surprise and wonder at what their lives looks like now they are professional bloggers.
It really is a gift. This opportunity to speak for ourselves. To have a voice and to have others recognise it. Don’t you think? Tell me.
What’s your favourite part about blogging?

  1. I love meeting people and having a great natter about all sorts of random (and d&m) things – without the need for makeup, hairbrushes, clothes that don't smell of baby poop, and you know, shoes…(hmmm, nice pink socks btw Cate)xxxCate

  2. I think I would like to be a professional blogger although I have no idea what that would entail or whether the content would need to change. And the pressure? But the part I love best. Is looking back through my old posts sometimes. I know with a diary I could do the same but I work at the computer, I upload photos, video. It's just a little bit more. And apparently the 'oosband thinks it's lucky he married a "nerd" now so that he has access to these memories. Not such a time waster after all huh?

  3. I love that what ever is going on in my head chances are there is somebody else out there that is thinking the same thing..feeling the same emotions. Having a bad day, a good day, celebrating someone or something and through blogging were all connected. We all make online friends and sometimes life long friends. It's all about the people near and far.

  4. I like knowing that I took a risk and started doing something for myself, that I get enjoyment out of and that makes me feel good at the end of the day. I also LOVE the interaction between bloggers, and just like you now can't imagine a world without it!

  5. Blabbing about everything that I do and think and people are actually interested enough to read and comment!

  6. I love that blogging is keeping me connected with the outside world. I love being able to communicate without the stress of face to face, blogging gives me time to think before I "say" something.I love how I've learned to do things I never thought I'd do.I love how blogging has made me appreciate my camera.I love all the friends I've made here.

  7. I have been blogging for about 8 years I think, but 'suburp' is my first fully public blog (that went on for more than a month..). I like reading blogs from people that I can relate to as much as blogs that are very exotic for me, I like the interaction but I am always and firstly writing it for myself, at least I think so. I still write privately (in my mothertongue), and I also still have paper journals, but I enjoy having this blog right now. I DO recommend to anyone who 'grows out' of their blog or gives it up to think of two important steps before they move their webpresence else where : 1.download your blog to have a trace of that part of your life for yourself 2. delete the blog/account if you truely want to move on. you would not leave any old but personal journal just on any park bench, would you ?

  8. I love all of these comments. I just LOVE reading about why people blog, how they came to, why they keep going. And suburp, great advice for those ending a blog. An important point to remember.
