And this year I haven’t gone to the beach at all. Weird huh.
Look around and you’ll see that it is a common thing. I see people giving things they love because they don’t have the time. Are too busy. Or can’t fit it in. Prioritizing they call it. and we all do it. We hope that it is the answer to us managing the essential things better. Living a fuller life. I don’t think that’s right.
I think to live a full life you have to fill it. The happiest I have ever been was the 6 months that I was working part time, directing and producing a local theatre production, managing two home based businesses, hosting an exchange student, participating in a rigorous training program which meant at least a visit or two to Brisbane a week as well as maintaining relationships including a marriage, friendships and my an extended family in a way that worked for us all.
It was a busy time. I’ll admit that. But I radiated happiness and love and life. My life was full. I was full of life. And now, I have found that I closed too many doors. Bit by bit I cut away the life I was living. Cut back on activities and commitments. Cut back on everything.
And for what? To make time for goodness knows what. For a life? For life!? That, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I’m just saying.
What have you given up lately
