There are all these cool old buildings in my town. I have showed you some before on this blog. And this beauty, this tired and rusty crusty lovely is one of my favourites. Especially because of it’s missing window boarded up with charcoaled timber, the rusty roller doors and the line of the facade. It makes me want to live there. Too bad it lives on a busy, busy corner {well as busy as my town gets}.
And if I didn’t live there, I think I would love to run a coffee shop/bookstore from here. When trading time comes I would throw open the doors and welcome people in. And across from the heritage rail station it may just work business savvy wise. All those touring tourists hanging about, desperate for coffee and cake.
I owned a cafe once. Did you know. I settled on it the week after my 21st birthday. I owned it for two years. It didn’t do very well. I was young and wouldn’t listen to anybody when they offered advice. Not my parents who are successful business people, my accountant and especially not my {then} new Hubby. Plus I was a little opposed to early mornings and was lazy when it came to preparation and planning. When eventually I sold it, I owed the tax office and had lost the money I invested. Luckily it had been my money, not borrowed, so it was a relatively cheap lesson, as far as life lessons go.
So what do you think? Cute building huh. I just don’t know if I am brave enough to attempt the whole hospitality thing again. But it is fun thinking and dreaming and planning. I wonder if I had the optimism and the nativity of my former self would I just go for it?
I think perhaps, perhaps I would.
