Desk with a view…

My Home Office – The View from my Chair
About this time last year I worked from home. I set my own hours, took the jobs I wanted and had the best view from my desk. And I miss it badly. I was doing what I loved to do. And then an offer came along to take up a position with regular pay and regular hours. I pondered. Things had been tight money wise for a bit. So I took it.
I think I discussed this once in a post titled I sold my soul. Yup. Yup I did.
And it is not like I feel like this all the time. I love the people I work with and the entertainment value of the day to day stuff. But do I love it, is it my passion, do I light up talking about it. Ummm. No. But it more than pays the bills if you know what I mean. And I do love the challenge of it. Some days.
I guess I am struggling.  Wondering what I should do. They rely on me, instability in our industry means loss of business but I didn’t and would never have planned to stay forever. In fact I gave myself 12 months, to get our finances on track and make my next move. And here we are.
And I don’t know what to do.
So there you have it. What’s next is yet unwritten. Got any plans for me? Any ideas?

  1. Leaving PM is always hard- I know how crazy things have been at my work as a result of my leaving- and I hate to think of all the owners I had a relationship with, that I've left in the lurch. That being said, you'll never regret the adventures you'll have in life, if you take risks! It's a big decision, but I know you'll pick something amazing and just right.

  2. I would never presume to tell you what to do. What does your hubby say? What do your best friends say? Is this job taking away from your soul? Have you built up a nest egg to help out with lean times if they happen again? I'd consider working there until you build up a solid nest egg to have as back up. Just a thought.

  3. Ooo Sheila, I wish you would, tell me what to do. :o) Great advice. Thanks. Amy, I know, that's exactly the worry about going. And going crazy is my worry about staying. :oP

  4. Snow Domes!! You have snow domes!! I love those things. I have a tiny wee one, but it's a glitter dome, with a mini buddha inside and when it's shaken glitter rains on him. I agree with Sheila above, stick with the job as long as you can and build up a solid nest egg.

  5. Haha River! I LOVE snow domes. People get them for me everywhere. And I get them for me everywhere. Fun. The Buddha one sounds cool.
