There is this driveway…

At the top of a very steep hill. The grass is a little long. The trees are bushy and native. This driveway is located in a town on the outskirts of my town. And it makes me wonder, this driveway, just who it is that lives there. And mostly I wonder just what they see from there. The view must be amazing. I wonder if there is a ramshackle shack Or is it a sweeping mansion. A virtual castle perched at the very top of the world? You see, when I said it was high, what I meant is that it is very, very high.
Now can you imagine what type of home you would perch on the edge of the tallest mountain that you could find in your town? I often do. When I am nearby. I think of a glass and steel structure. It would need to be at least three stories high. Sturdy but with that flat glacial beauty. Bedrooms would be open and airy. Veranda’s would be everywhere, timber that would age and turn white in the beating sun. And from the open plan living area you would have views from every angle. Paintings and furnishings would pale in comparison once again compared to what Mother Nature had to offer.
Well, that is what I imagine anyway. But I’m a house nerd. I just love, love, love houses. Does that make me a weirdo? What do you imagine when you see that slightly overgrown driveway, perched at the top of the world?

  1. Weirdo, hell no! I write about my addiction to house porn all the time. I'm actually considering making going to open houses a bit of a Saturday hobby… love a stickybeak.BTW, I couldn't help but think that that deserted little track leading off into nowhere could be a great hideout for a bank robber. But, you know, stick with your castles and your sweeping mansions. Much, much nicer. x

  2. I imagine a one story rambling house full of windows on one side (the side with the view). The other would be shaded with ceiling fans and cool tile floors. Someday . . .

  3. you need to go up and peek :)

  4. Great imagery! The scenery is definitely inspiring!bubbswww.paris-on-my-mind.blogspot.com

  5. Not a weirdo, just a house nerd as you described. Someday I feel that you will have a house like that. Once this blog makes millions!

  6. Say, only five more to your goal! You go, girl!!!

  7. I picture an environmentally friendly pole frame house, built to "melt" into the hillside, making it virtually invisible, so very, very private. Lots of shady verandahs, and double glazed windows for the amazing view.
