It Rained on my Parade – A Comedy

I came back from routine inspections today under blue skies. There were some clouds looming in the background but no where near close enough to worry about. I ate my lunch. To quickly, might I add. Finished off some emails. Drank a tea. And decided to go on the mission that it is from my office to the toilet block.
Over past the sales office I go. Dodging the puddles that at the moment never, ever seem to dry. Around the cars in the car park I weave. Up the stairs I climb. Across the grassy knoll I wander. Until, here I am. I do what I came to do. Wash my hands (in case you are wondering) and go to leave. And the skies have opened for a misty rain. Cold and sprinkley. Sparkly, dew like rain. I decide to head off anyway.
So across the grassy knoll I go. The rain increases to a constant, heavier fall. Down the stairs I climb. And the rain starts to blow sideways and with force. Around the cars in the car park I quickly weave. And the rain, is dumping down, side ways and there is already water running from my hair into my face. So past the sales office I dash.My clothes are sticking to my back. I am soak through to the bottom layer… literally. And what then..?
Well the rain starts to ease. The rain begins to return to the misty, pretty rain of earlier.
However my drenched clothes, hair and shoes do not return as quickly to their former, non saturated state. I bust through the office door. A little breathless from my fast shuffle across the way in heels. The lovely Val makes me a tea as water drips from my fringe and runs down my nose.
And I laugh. Because really, what else can you do.

  1. OMG – poor you, and I bet if you had waited at the loo, the rain would have waited too, sometimes life just does that too you. Love the fact you could laugh at it all. Hope you managed to dry out. xxx
