Hi, I'm Suger.
My name is Melissa Walker Horn, and somewhere along the way, I became Suger. I'm a writer, photographer, business owner, and an OG blogger. I love a casual ootd, my family, and the beach. I've got a thing for cheese, but there's no way you'll ever catch me eating apricot chicken. I'm not sure why you need to know that, but there it is.
My story is about creating a life I love, a gift I wish to offer every woman and girl out there. On this blog, I hope to deliver that to you, your friend, daughter or a lady you met on the street. So settle in, grab your beverage of choice and let's get started, shall we?

Body Shame: It starts young. Who taught her that?
She covers herself as the massage chair in the shopping centre does its thing. She hides the softness of her stomach as it jiggles. I dare not smile or watch her too long for fear she thinks I'm laughing at her. I'm not, I'm smiling a smile of recognition. I've been there. I notice the brown eyes and freckles scattered across her nose. She probably wishes her brown eyes were green or her skin was porcelain. That she was taller or didn't have thick hair straining the elastic on her ponytail. At this stage she'd probably take anything over what...
Black + White + Stripes for Winter
Post brought to you by Harlow Australia The other weekend while the ladies were at my house we styled a photo shoot using the new season Harlow range. I'm pretty sure it was only a couple of weeks ago but it feels like forever. We took those photos for Harlow at a local car park using a tripod and a flash. They worked out well and I love the fun, easy feel of all the ladies in those photos. When we returned to my house Liv and I did a little costume change and lined up out the back for a second outfit pic. More monochrome awesome. This time...
Confident You: Your parents are people
Welcome back to this week's Confident You challenge. Last week we took the challenge to question that inner voice of yours to better equip you to ignore it when it's being a jerk. This week I'm challenging you to find your confidence through being good to your parents, the creators of your life, no matter how much you adore them or how much of a jerk they have been. Ready? I attended a course once, this course gets a bit of a bad rap but I went through a number of their programs and came out the other end a stronger, more assertive version...
Mid-season Date Night Outfit
I hesitate a couple of times writing the title for this post. I really wanted to call it what it was, it's all about wearing the nude skater dress and how to do it when it almost exactly matches your skin colour. BUT this is the interwebs and having a title like plus-size nude is just asking for trouble of the creepy kind. So here we are. I've probably said nude too many times now anyway. I'll let you know how I go. Haha. Ignore search engines, ignore! But oh yes! This outfit was featured on the Defined Image Facebook page recently {I pop...
Retro Polka Dot Swimmers
For my Gold Coast jaunt the team at Capriosca Swimwear decided that I needed a new pair of swimmers. And being based on the coast themselves they dropped me this cute retro suit to the apartment with a note to say enjoy, even though it's not really beach weather. They were right, of course. The Gold Coast was a wee bit chilly AND there was this cold wind that would have done Melbourne proud. Soooo what happened? The indoor heated pool happened. The spa happened. Wandering around the place in them happened. These are probably the easiest to...
What the ladies wore
The Queensland Plus-Size blogger get together has been covered, yes? Covered covered. And after this I have one more post to come featuring the gorgeous swimsuit I was given by the Capriosca Swimwear for this weekend. After all, you need swimmers for fun in the sun, yes? Too bad it was freezing. Haha. It is a mighty cute suit though so hang in there for that one. And stop rolling your eyes because you're sick of me, I've got other posts planned for the weekend. But still, after all these posts, you're waiting on some outfit shots of what the...
70s Styling Sneaking In
I've been firmly stuck in the 90's. You know it, I know it. It's a style I enjoy dressing in and is both casual and on trend at the same time. But since American Hustle I have this thing for the seventies fashion look. This outfit was inspired by that. I started with the dress, added the boots and the hat {which I searched for one for ages} was the perfect final touch. And didn't they just have THE BEST hair in the 70's? Oh what fun that is. Man what I wouldn't give to have someone give me the perfect blow-wave every second day. Seriously....
QLD Plus Size Bloggers Meet Up
This weekend was pretty uneventful. Not much on. I was lying low at home. Same old, same old, you know? Well. NOT. This weekend just gone was an extravaganza of awesome. I left home Saturday morning {fairly early all things considered} and set off for the Gold Coast to meet up with fabulous Queensland women who are interested in plus-size fashion, blogging and buying awesome clothes. I expected it to be fun. I expected it to cost me in the whole #cutthecraSuger process of kicking the habits I've gotten myself into lately. I expected to laugh,...
Aussie Curves: Timesaver
My time-saving tip when it comes to getting ready whether it's in a hurry on that busy workday morning or if you are a little dusty from one heck of a night before is to go with what you know works. When you are short of time stuffing around deciding on a new outfit idea is a waste of time. Reach for the old favourites and get out the door before you know it. Like on this windy Sunday morning {errr, yesterday} on a balcony on the Gold Coast. That's exactly what I did. I reached into my overstuffed suitcase and pulled out my ankle boots, my...
