This post is brought to you by Target Australia.
For this post, my sister and I took up the challenge to style one Target Australia item multiple ways. We chose work and play and given the current changing of the seasons, we wanted something that would work now and well into winter. Plus there was a sale happening {we never miss a sale} so why not go for broke.
For work, I wanted classic styling and something that will take me into winter without needing much more than my suiting jacket or a blazer. Something sophisticated and modern. For play, I wanted something I could wear to the movie or dinner with Hubby. Casual, cute and a little bit sexy. Can I say sexy in a Target post? Oh well, I will anyway. Moving on.
Our key piece is the elastic waist Ponte pants.
I knew that the slim fit would work well a tunic length and my current pointed toe shoe obsession. The Ponte pants are heavyweight stretch fabric, have a wide structured elastic waistband and they fit and have a similar weight fabric to my Torrid Jeans. So I’m treating them like I would a slim fit pant rather than a legging.
For the work look, I’ve paired it with this tunic top which is also available in pink and black.
I’m a big fan of this colour especially paired with black, so this was the one. This tunic is sleeveless and is perfect for Queensland at the moment where the mornings are cool but as the day goes on it heats up. A lightweight fabric that could easily be layered as the weather gets colder. I’ve added a black suiting jacket I already owned and a nice big bag that would be suitable for the office.
The shoes featured in this post are also from Target and appear to be a return of a style I’ve always loved. They are a kitten heel, pointed toe shoe VERY similar to my red ones from years ago. For me, a kitten heel is the best of bother worlds. They give a bit of the kick of a higher pair of heels without the discomfort.
For the casual look, I wanted a relaxed fit jumper that I could wear with booties.
There was much debate about what colour to pick up this jumper in with my sister insisting on the maroon because it suits her so beautifully it has to work on me too. She’s right, of course, up herself, but right. Haha. I ended up picking it up in my size in the blue and you can see me wearing here. In the maroon, to create this look I picked it up in the size 28. I was hoping for a more relaxed fit {and more length!} but over time I’m sure it will give me an inch or two.
With the kitten heels, this look reminds me of an old Audrey Hepburn movie or something. Maybe I should have added a headscarf? Cute. I just find the easy fit of these pants, the cozy wool of the jumper and the almost flats make sure you could take this outfit out and about or just laze around sipping coffee. Casual style at its best.
Both looks {excluding the items I owned} cost me less than the $100 voucher I was given to purchase the items for this post. Especially since I picked up all the items at the mid-season sale {on now!} and there was a deal going on MODA when you spend over a certain amount you received further discounts. I’m not sure if that is still running given the extra discounts. I already plan on picking up another pair of the Ponte pants and the jumper in coral.
Elastic Ponte Pants $20 was $39
Malinda Kitten Heel $20
Diagonal Front Blouse Tunic $24.88
Moda Super Soft Jumper $20 was $29

Looking great Melissa! Love the bargains you picked up. I love shopping at Target!
Thank you Naomi. Me too, I’m all about the bargains.
Gorgeous! Love the tunic look – very chic! Your sis was definitely right – maroon works on you! I picked up some great autumn / winter layering pieces from Target last week – very pleased as have been wearing ‘same old, same old’ stuff for too long – started to feel the frump which is never good!
Thank you. For basics you really can’t go past ranges like those in Target. Layering tanks is something I wish they had more of. The ones that are almost like a mini dress? Love those and I can never find them!
wow! Love those outfits on you Melissa 🙂 loving those shoes just might get me a pair me thinks (wink)
Thank you Dannie. These shoes are the best. I’ve been wearing them 4 and 5 times a week since I bought them.
Me likey!!! I usually only ever find decent shoes at Target and they are always on sale. Love it!!!
Haha. THANKS! I’ve always loved Target for shoes as they stocked an 11 long before other chain stores did. I’ve noticed a few of the styles that I loved years ago coming back and I’m all over that!
Just bought the pants. Love them. Thanks for sharing. x
You’re welcome. For $20, they’re a steal. Enjoy.
Right. Loading self into car and heading to Tarjay to buy that tunic top right now!
Haha. Awesome. You’ll love all its drapey goodness.
Bargains! Love the kitten heels the most.

Me too. As much as I love the pants, the heels have been worn almost constantly for a month now!
Are these available in regular sizing or only in plus sizes? I’ve found plus sizes too big and need a regular size 14-16 in short person lengths.
Yes they are actually! the standard range goes to a size 20 and is also available in khaki. Here’s the link > http://shop.target.com.au/p/ladies-chunky-elastic-ponte-pants-black/W427383
Gorgeous! I would love to be able to wear heels more often but I feel weird getting around in heels – even kitten heels! – my son is wearing sneakers and my hubby is wearing thongs!
Thank you. You DID see my Valentines night photos right? I’m in cute red heels, a pencil skirt, and tank… Hubby is wearing thongs and some shorts with a polo. Gah. Men!? 😉
Only just found this post now via your newsletter. Am so going to suss out those ponte pants. I had seen them online but they only looked 7/8 length so I dismissed them. They look normal length on you though and I’m only 5’3 so I’m sure I’ll be fine. Oh and I think I NEED that tunic for work as well.
They really are the best. The wide elastic panels at the waist fit like a dream and do all sort of wonderful things for smoothing and cinching without being uncomfortable. I’d call them normal length, clearly the model was all legs. 😉 Let me know how you go. A lot of the ladies said the tunics were sold out.
They’ve still got the tunics online (although I only looked at the black so I can wear it for work). What’s the sizing like for the tunics? I’m normally a 20-22 in MODA do they seem like their usual MODA sizing? If so I might just grab it online while it’s there. Actually is the pants sizing the usual MODA sizing as well. I figure if I’m going to do an online order I may as well hit up both 🙂
Pretty standard. I got the 22. It’s a floaty style but no stretch in the material so across my boobs there’s not much room. I’d say go your standard size. Same with the pants, I’m wearing the 22. Good luck with your purchase!
