We all have something we can be grateful for. Something that lights us up and makes taking those first steps into the world in the morning worthwhile. Use this gratitude as kindling for your confidence. You ARE someone that good things happen to. You ARE someone who can be delivered wonderful things. That’s where the smug bit comes in.
There are days that I wake up and the next thing to do on my list, the getting dressed and ready for work, the whole world of it is too much. So I do something I learnt from Sunday school. I count my blessings. In my head I start by saying I’m SO glad I woke up this morning. Feet on the floor; I’m so glad I have a soft bed and a roof over my head. Walk to the bathroom; I’m really really glad I have hot running water and indoor plumbing. And on and on it goes.
But what if you don’t feel like there IS anything? Maybe it’s a tough time for you and it’s just too hard to see right now. Firstly, I’m sorry to hear that. Life can be so hard sometimes. It knocks you down and leaves you there. Don’t forget there are lots of services out there with people you can talk to.
Now, about this list. Start small and work out. Number one, you are breathing in and out. Well done you. The planet’s spinning and the sun rose this morning. Confident people are those who are happy with themselves and their life. This list will start to get you really present to all the things you have in your life. The smug part will just come naturally after that. Ha.
Daily Challenge: Make a list of things you’re grateful for. What are you grateful for today?
Hi! I’m Melissa Walker Horn. Around here, they call me Suger. I’m the Chief Blogger and doer of all the things here at Suger Coat It. Blogging since 1901; I love a casual ootd, taking photos, and writing about things that irk or inspire me. I love wine and cheese, long days at the beach and spending time with my family. I make stuff for the internet over at Chalkboard Digital. You know, living the sweet life.
i am grateful for a job with health insurance. Right now i’m on week-long LOA from work because of my back issues (slip disc). I am grateful that I have HMO coverage that pays for my consultations and therapy. Also grateful for a supportive family and co-workers. Many more to list!
So wonderful! Thank you for sharing. A great start to your list. Feel better soon!
Dear
blogger,
I am writing you on behalf of a India client who would like to appear in your blog by means of
an advertorial. Your task would be to write and publish a post in exchange for an economic reward. If
interested, please write me back and Iwill tell you more about the project.
“hot running water” This morning I was really, really grateful for my hot running water. You see, for the previous two mornings, our water heater has been non-functioning. So I’ve been boiling the kettle and having a sponge bath before work. But that’s not the ideal way to wash hair, so by last night my hair was looking decidedly yuk. When I discovered the water heater had been fixed, I bounced out of bed this morning in my rush to get under the spray and shampoo my hair. Bliss!
Yes! Absolutely one of my favourite things to be grateful for. Enjoy.
