It was a dreary start to the Australia Day weekend when most of the plans we had were cancelled. Inskip Point was being evacuated, people we were hoping to see weren’t coming any more and there was no sunshine to speak of. Thankfully my brother and sister-in-law went ahead with their party, wet weather and all. Though the guest list was a little abbreviated thanks to the wet and windy conditions, Hubby and I rocked up ready to have a good time. And we did! We had a great time splashing about in the mud and rain, we ate like kings and enjoyed some wonderful company. That’s what it’s all about after all.
The awesome cake was made by Sherree who has a cake business, if you want her info, let me know and I’ll pass it on. My sister made an amazing low fructose carrot cake, the pav was made by my sil’s mum and we all took salads to have with our bbq’ed goodness. See what I mean? Totally ate like kings. I had one of everything, plus a lot of red wine and well to say I was in the festive spirit may just be an understatement. Haha.
Little did we know that this little {inside} BBQ on Saturday would lead to a full scale flood by Sunday. It turns out that it really was lucky that my sister and her partner went home after coming back to ours to watch a video because if they didn’t, they would’ve been stuck here until now. And as much as we love them, enjoyed their company while they lived here and everything, one stir crazy cooped up person is about all I can handle. Right Hubby?
the end.

I hope you’re keeping safe during the floods! That thong cake is classic x
We are, thank you. Water has almost receded now. Back to work today. The cake was awesome!
I didn’t know that it was Australia Day weekend. I guess you can tell I am from the states. But on Sunday, I was rocking my Melbourne Aces pullover and my 2013 Team Australia World Baseball Classic hat.
Now I know that Australia Day weekend is the last weekend in January. Hopefully I am right on that???
Well what a happy accident THAT was. The actual date is the 26th January, whenever it falls. Mark it on your calendar, it’s lots of fun. 😉
Will do. Thanks for the info.
Obviously you decided against the dress you’d planned to wear?!
I wore it after I wore my jeans in the pool. 😉
