I’m sure most of the ladies and gents out there {the Australian ones anyway} are preparing for some form of Melbourne Cup celebration. The local racecourse will have camel races to compliment the luncheons and fundraisers going on and the main event will be on screens. I’m not going, I’m working until 1pm so will probably miss it this year. Luckily I went to a local race met on the 23rd of last month so I just took some time and grabbed some photos of my outfit to share.
This panelled beauty is the handiwork of the team at Harlow Australia and was sent to me as part of their spring/summer release. I almost didn’t wear it to the races, the weather here has been SO hot and the fabric seemed to be too dense for ridiculously hot. Soooo I waited and planned two outfits. Come the race day there were clouds in the sky and a nippy breeze so i was good to go!
And boy am I glad I did.
There’s nothing worse than being at a race day like that and seeing someone else in the same dress. It’s a small town and it happens. A lot. I knew that there wouldn’t be another of this dress here {thank goodness for sneak peeks}. Phew. And paired with the simple black feather head piece, clutch and wedges it was a simple, stylish and punchy outfit. I mean pleather panels, what’s not to love. Hello rock star!

Enjoy the races ladies and gents! Have a champers for me.

Pleather panels! *drools*
Soooo nice! x
Love this dress and you look amaze in it!
It’s a fab dress. I kind of want all three colours. Haha. GREEDY. And thank you. I love it.
The colour is fantastic Melissa, this dress looks like it was made for you!
Thank you Wendy! The colour is always one of my favs. x
Such a gorgeous colour, you look gorgeous. I have, many times, wished for either colder or hotter weather because there is a particular outfit I want to wear.
Thank you Sara. I hear you on the weather thing. Fingers crossed and all that. Haha.
I love this dress – could so easily be dressed up (like you have here) or down (thongs and loose hair), the colour is amazing and you look gorgeous!
Absolutely. The pleather panels make it such a fun dress. It’d take you anywhere. Thanks K. x
Love this dress. Looks fantastic on you!
Thank you L-A, you’re too kind! x
Love the dress, love the shoes!!!
Seriously… that dress is amazing. Its so nice to see an edgier dress at the races.
I know, right!? This was my thought exactly. I go into floral a little over winter but it’s not a go to look for me AT ALL. And sometimes it seems that’s the only options plus size women get for things like races and special occasions. And these shoes, I’m wearing them to death this year. I want them in every colour.
You look sensational, I know I am a little biased but that dress ticks all the boxes…… Great structural fabric, deep been neckline, pleather panels, pockets, feminine yet with a rockn roll edge!!!
Thanks for the awesome review!!!
Kp
Haha. Incredibly biased, but so you should be. Great job team. You’re welcome. Thanks again for the support of this blog.
