They Work Out {She Wore What}

Post image for They Work Out {She Wore What}

My siblings have been pretty darn instrumental to getting me in shape. My brother was the one that challenged me to set a date for the couch to 5km program. And when I’d finished that {barely!} my sister, Amanda Claire, was insistent I join the gym with her. Since then my confidence in what my body can do and my fitness have come along by leaps and bounds. I’m proud ongoingly of what I’ve achieved. When Virtu let me know that the new season Virtu Active items were coming out and that they would be happy to send some, I asked if I could get a couple of items for my sister. They said they’d love to see us show off our gear together! Which of course, we were more than happy to do.

I am wearing the Large {20/22} and my sister is wearing the XXS {12/14}. So now even more of you out there can see what it might look like on you. If, you know, you look like us. Sort of. And are short like my sis or tall like me. I think it’s a great reminder that this range goes from a 12-24 and that there are cotton items, mesh breathable fabric in some. Short and long pants. Leggings and shorts. Something for everyone who wants to work out. Or just lounge in comfort which I do plenty in mine before and after the gym. Ha! Now. Let’s check us ooooout.

I’m going to fess up here and say while we LOVE the colours of the new season but these pants did our heads in. We are used to working out in shorts, leggings or full length pants. My sister was the first to wear hers and we just assumed they were so much longer than my other pants because she’s a short ass. But when I put mine on, they really are a completely different cut. I think they would be great for ladies with large legs and calves because they have plenty more room than the Evolution Crop Leggings I already own. Not that the Energise Crop Pants don’t offer all the great features and benefits of the others but we both found that we rolled them up when wearing them. Especially on leg press type machines. so not really for us. Luckily the range has expanded such that there are options for everyone. I plan on ordering the Evolution long pant for myself in the upcoming weeks.

How great are the new season colours!? I’m loving the softer, more sherbet colour of my new top {I have the others in blue and orange as well}. The pinks are gorgeous! The grey offers a little less coverage of lumps and bumps than the black, but isn’t that just the way colour goes. I asked for the top for myself and the tank for Amanda Claire. I almost wish I had ordered the tank too. It has great lines, mesh inserts and flat seems like the other tops. But for me, maybe in the XL to allow a bit more room to breath. You know, out. Haha. Amanda Claire was saying she will probably order some of the tops. Too bad we aren’t the same size, we could have swapped.

Prepare yourself. This is the part of the post where I said to my sis, you know what would be GREAT!? Us, jumping off the wall. Only, I don’t land that well any more. Haha. It took ages to time the remote and get SOMETHING on camera. so there is a lot of messy around. Almost falling off the wall ledge. Lame jumps {on my behalf} and laughing. So for your viewing pleasure, us being active in our Virtu Active wear. Try not to pee your pants laughing.

    LOVE. You girls are so much fun, wish we could be gym bunnies together x

    I’m getting Amanda Claire’s outfit, it’s on it’s way. So if your readers want to see what it looks like on a size 20/22 they can check out the review on mine soon. Also if you buy two items of activewear from Virtu you qualify for a free pedometer in either pink, lime or orange!

      Haha. We do our best. And be afraid, if you ever get here to visit us, we’re going to take your butt to the gym and work it lady. Brace yourself! ;)

      I’ve edited the post, thanks for the heads up on the pedometer thing. Happy to share your post on FB etc when it comes through so the ladies can see.

    You go girls! You both look like you’re having so much fun, and I’m totally jelly that you get to do all that with your sister. I wish mine was here so we could do the same! xx

    • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

      We did, it was pretty funny as well as being fun. I love that I get to work out with my family. My brother, sister in law and cousin {plus an aunt and uncle} are all at the same gym. It makes it feel like home sometimes. ;)

  • whiningattheworld

    Love that your sisters shoes match the top.

    And I agree with the others. You guys look like you are having so much fun. I do think you should a disclaimer like No workout wear was harmed in the making of this blog post.

    • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

      Haha. The kid loves pink, what can I say. I bought her these for her birthday to replace her old dying pink ones. Perfect timing I say.

      LOVE the disclaimer idea. It should have been the title of the post!

    There is such a glut of plus size work out clothes here in the States. I love those outfits.

    • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

      Lucky! We don’t have much to choose from at all. Especially past a size 20. The Virtu range made my YEAR when they started selling a few months ago.

      • Jen

        I need to amend my comment. There is a lack of plus size workout clothes. I need more coffee.

        • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

          Haha. No problem. Same boat as us then, huh? Did you get your coffee? ;)

    You ladies look great! I checked out the measurements on the website, but they don’t accommodate my hips. Virtu, make larger sizes pretty please! Love the photos at the end, you guys look like you’re having fun. :-)

    • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

      Thank you Bek! We were having fun. I had pretty bad stomach cramps and was complaining a lot. Bloody hormones. But my sis brings that out in me. :)

      Yes, more sizes is always a good thing. Absolutely. Keep in mind they’re stretch and not generous but accommodating, if that makes sense. The fabric sucks you in and holds tight without being uncomfortable. Especially the wicking fabric pants.

    Bahahahaha the jumping!

    • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

      Sooooo bad. Soooo bad. Haha.

  • river

    Great photos, I love the long shadow lines of the walls. The active wear looks pretty cool stuff, i really like the pink tank.
    I did laugh at the jumping photos, but you can rest easy knowing I did not pee my pants.

    • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

      Thanks River, considering we took them on a tripod with a remote most of the time, I’m very happy with them! The gear is beautiful too, so that helps. And my sister, what a babe. :)

      Glad to hear about the pee thing! ;)

    Awesome photos. I’m in the market for some new workout gear, my pants keep falling down when I try to run on the tredmil. Thanks for posting this, I had no idea this website existed, they also ship to NZ.. YAY!

    • http://sugercoatit.com Melissa {Suger}

      You’re welcome!! Happy shopping lovely. I can’t recommend their stuff highly enough. :)

    • http://sugercoatit.com/ Melissa Walker Horn

      You’re so welcome. I remember the day I came across the Virtu line I was pretty darn excited. THEN they brought out the Active and I was a fan for life! Dacking yourself on the treadie is never a good look. Sounds like something I would do though. Haha.
