Darn, shoot, bugger it! Those were the words spilling from my mouth when I read that this week’s theme was animlaistic. Holy poo cakes! I’d used the one and only animal print item in my wardrobe for nature week and I had nothing. Damn it. Then I wore this outfit to work the other day {less the red accessories} and my Mum said, oooo, that top looks like a flowery snake. And I cheered outwardly and cringed a little on inside. Ewwww, snake. So with a combination of desperation and pride that I DID IT, here’s my animalistic outfit. I wish I had a red blazer to throw on over the top. How great would that be!?

And yes it’s another peplum. Yes, it’s another pencil skirt. Seriously, it’s a little embarrassing to post same old same old outfits all the time. But hey, everyone has their thing. And me, well, aside from stripes, my thing is peplum and pencil skirts. Maybe black and white with a pop of colour too. I often talk about finding your style and going with it. I also think you have to be interesting. Some days I bore MYSELF silly. Haha. But prints are interesting, right? Buns are… Oh wait. I wear buns all the time too. Sigh. Lucky I changed my hair or you might think it was 2012 all over again.

I know that sounds a bit sooky or whatever, but consider it being a little exploration of my style and where it’s heading. I love peplum but it might be time to take a step back a little. Maybe. Especially since I’m not giving up pencil skirts any time soon. Or stripes for that matter. I will never give up my stripes. EVER. I hope the bury me in stripes one day far off in the future. Horizontal, of course, as a final up yours to everyone you maintains that fat woman shouldn’t wear them. Haha. What say you? Do you ever feel like you’re in a bit of a style rut? Maybe I should give animalistic more a of a shot?

  • This outfit is sexy and fabulous Hun, really love it. Perhaps try not to look at things being a rut, something’s might just be a part of your developing signature that is you. Take the things that work as a basis and push the envelope in other directions.

    • Thank you Trudie! And a great point too. I think I might reframe my thinking on this one.

  • You never bore me and I couldn’t help but laugh at the photo dedicated to Natalie. It’s funny how without meaning to we’ve developed signature poses.

    • Thank you D. Lovely to hear. It IS funny. Signature moves are SO easy to spot on some of us. Haha.

  • Love the flowery pattern. I wouldn’t have looked at this and thought, oh gee another same same outfit. It’s completely different. Accept maybe the bun. You make your outfits look fresh every time.

  • Might I suggest a sparkly alternative to being buried eventually?

I’m gonna become a diamond, probably pink.

They call it LifeGem and it is a fascinating way to last a very long time. 🙂

As a fellow lover of peplums and pencil skirts, I totally understand!!

but its on trend, you look awesome and i’ve never looked at your photos and thought it looked like the same outfit or boring – embrace your faves I say.

    • Well thank you muchly lady. You guys have changed my mind on the topic, for sure. Embracing it as a favourite look and going from there. 🙂

  • Sophie

Effing love it! You’re one classy lady!

  • Alison

    • Thank you, it has a bit of a slinky feel to it too which is lovely. I’m a big fan.

  • I was too late to join in this one, but I had to share, as I feel so damn sexy in this animal print! http://blog.mummybrain.com/2013/06/ootd-animalistic-she-wore-what.html

I am SO in love with this top on you! I have seen it on ASOS and didn’t think much of it but after seeing it on you I think I might just have to buy it.

    • It was a bit of a surprise to me too! I SO don’t wear leopard print. This one was a hand me down a while ago, so just make sure it’s the same one!
